I would like football tuned for everyone. How about: I get to be QB, and no defensive player is permitted rush or tackle me, and I have receivers allowed to stay completely open, 5 yards from the line of scrimmage because that's as far as I can throw? This will expand pro football opportunities. It's plain unfair that only the best of the best get to play pro football.
And don't forget the QB should be required to wear a flag so no tackling allowed. This would create jobs for flag football manufacturers! A win-win situation!
@graphite I have a hard time throwing with my bad shoulder, I should be allowed 5 running backs so I can just hand-off. Maybe I put a large Transgender woman in from of my center, when I do a QB sneak.
Muggsy Bogues was only 5'3. Earl Boykins was 5'5. Spud Webb was 5'6. Calvin Murphy made the Hall of Fame at 5'9
DEI isn't really needed in a league that already allows players from all different backgrounds test their mettle.
Unfortunately, a lot of places in the US don't really have open tryouts or scouting tapes that lets people show off their competency. Haven't you ever heard the expression "it's not what you know, it's who you know"? A lot of people from minority groups don't have the same level of connections that privileged classes do, and therefore aren't given as many opportunities to succeed
I mean, I don't really see anything wrong with giving people a shot if they got the right qualifications
@DogMan I put that in there because so many people incorrectly assume that people are getting hired or promoted based solely on their minority status. A properly implemented DEI policy ensures they also have the right competencies
I hear you, when life's tough the tough get going. Here's an example of taking a pro-active attitude to preserving that all important safe space in a time of need...
How dare people invade her safe space, that'll teach them! 😂
I’d argue that the quality of baseball got better when Black players were allowed to play in the major leagues. And then again when teams made a focused effort to recruit talent from Latin America. And then again when teams began seeking out Japanese players.
So which part of diversity, equity and inclusion feels like a problem to you? Because that’s what those programs do—they find ways to identify talent from underrepresented groups. The result is better performance not worse.
We are both in the same age group…… we are to old to play professional sports😆 When you find that safe space, let me know where it is, I need a safe space too 😊
@Mbingh01 Yes, we are about the same age, but I am still athletic. I work out 6 days a week, and ride dirt bikes on the weekend. What is your sport of choice?
Because sports is one of the few businesses that doesn't discriminate or have stack hiring practices. At least anymore. Baseball for example has its DEI moment back when Jakie Robinson switched to MLB.
Now when you have say police and fire departments serving areas that are only 20% white while the forces are 90% whites who live in the suburbs 20+ minutes away. It kinda shows a problem with hiring practices
Well if they play at point guard position maaaaybe they can push the ball up the court a bit without getting into too much trouble with those seven foot+ giants. If they don't fall first.
