That sex is more important than it actually is.
I was raised to think men only wants one thing, so I'm a natural flirt with a perverted sense of humor. But I have little to no interrest in actually fornicating. It has made me feel like something was wrong with me all my life.
Still does, but I'm starting to see more asexual people in movies, series, and online. Even met a few within the last year or so.
I still feel like something's wrong with me for not wanting that kind of intimacy, but it's a relief to know I'm not alone.

@TheRealBarbossa Unless someone is having offers just thrown at them, going out in search of s3x is more hassle than it is worth.

@HoeBag I once went more than 10 years without. Not even by myself. And I didn't miss it at all.
@TheRealBarbossa I have been almost twenty years for me

That the key to a middle class lifestyle is a college education. I’m sure it probably was once upon a time, but this doesn’t seem to be the reality anymore.
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
@deadmoon I definitely agree with this to a certain extent. I would say that the investment into a College education is only worth it if you are going into STEM. Maybe an MBA is still worth it if you are going into Corporate management or Finance.
However, I have seen, and continue to see, jobs that require a BA or MS even if the degree is not relevant to the position.

deadmoon · 31-35, F
@SumKindaMunster Exactly. And seeing some employers require master’s degrees for job positions that only pay $15 an hour boils my blood. If you want elite employees, you should be prepared to offer elite salaries too and actually pay them their worth. Those student loans aren’t going to pay themselves. But unfortunately this is also starting to happen a lot.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@deadmoon One of the things starting to emerge from the A.I. revolution is that while many professions will be displaced and replaced, a lot of trades like plumber, electrician and personal caring professions like nurse will be in higher demand as A.I cant provide the physical services..😷

That keeping one’s head down and working hard was a way to earn respect.
In some circles that work ethic is not valued at all. 🙁

That women don't enjoy sex, are looking for men who will put them on a pedestal and adore them. Needless to say, my dating of, and meaningful relationships with, women came much later in life than for most.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@dancingtongue Yeah, that was a piece of misinformation meant to keep women "in their place".

I don't know if I'd call it propaganda, but I found it interesting how I could have believed that Manson's ambition for a race war was proven for such a long time. The reason why a popular deception like that would be floated for so long is what's most interesting.
Then there's the exaggeration of the Spanish Inquisition and just how many fell for that hook, line and sinker is also an interesting case study

That going to school and working hard and being honest had anything to do with success.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I think a lot of us fell for that earlier in life.

And I only found out a few weeks ago that the highly romanticized view we foreign devils have of the Samurai is entirely down to the writings of a single Japanese Quaker in the 19c. Even the number of samurai virtues is wrong

Pretty much the whole of society and everything I was taught. How fake our institutions are especially universities. How the filthy banking organizations run things behind the scenes. How easy it would be to put a stop to it if people knew what was going on. Lots of things.

That the USA invaded Iraq and killed that country's Leader while in search of weapons of mass destruction, while relying on the advice of US Intelligence that such weapons existed, when in fact no such weapons were ever found at the time, nor do they exist today.

That JFK was Assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald when in fact Fidel Castro ordered the Assassination of JFK after the CIA tried the same trick on Castro under JFK's orders, but failed miserably when they screwed up the mission.
