What’s the biggest piece of propaganda you believed but later found out was not true?

That the USA invaded Iraq and killed that country's Leader while in search of weapons of mass destruction, while relying on the advice of US Intelligence that such weapons existed, when in fact no such weapons were ever found at the time, nor do they exist today.
