denmark had one shooting in 25 years... the usa had 226 in 2022...
Carazaa · F
@Baremine
The pharisee said to Jesus why are you associating with sinners like drunkards and prostitutes? Jesus said we are to love people.

Many of the people at the border are not Christians so we can witness our love for them. As a Christian, I feed them.

The Swedish government state church handed out water and food at the Syrian border to show them the love of Jesus! Many have become Christian in Sweden! WE need to love people. That is why God sent them to us! It is a test to see who is a Christian and who isn't and for us to help them. That is what christians do, help people who need help.

The USA is a beautiful country with a beautiful mission

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddle masses yearning to breathe free"
Baremine · 70-79, C
@Carazaa but you don't let thieves, drug dealers,gang members, murders crooks into our country.
Abstraction · 61-69, M
@Baremine People crossing the border has little to do with the mass shootings. Unless you can prove your statement, which is highly unlikely, don't talk about the size of people's brains. The shooters are responsible for the deaths, not immigrants. Oh, there are immigrants, I'm going to go into a school and kill children! It's not my fault, it's the faulty immigration controls. Seriously?

If it happens every week like it does in some places then yes
@Thinkerbell WWI didn't come out of nowhere. It was the inevitable conclusion to the nationalism and imperialism that had been growing in Europe since the last half of the 19th century. Barbara Tuchman's The Guns of August is a good introduction to the forces that led to the war.

Interestingly, the snap decision of the Turkish Pasha to give shelter to two German vessels that were fleeing the British brought the Ottoman Empire into the war, leading directly to British involvement in the Middle East and the conflicts that still exist today.
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@LeopoldBloom

Yes of course history is always a product of what went before, But WW1 was an unusually strong confluence of forces, and as I said, enabled the rise of communism, fascism and much of what happened in the 20th century.
@Thinkerbell It was probably the "worst war" in the sense that it tossed an entire generation into a pointless meat grinder, and the conclusion didn't really resolve anything, and as you point out, made things a lot worse for many people. It could be said that WWI and WWII were the same war, with a 25 year hiatus, Italy switching sides, and Japan getting involved.
Guns make mass murder easier for the murderer.
Baremine · 70-79, C
@ArishMell I would venture to say that most religious people are NOT Christian.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Baremine Oh, you are probably right; but so far at least religion does not seem the motive in this case.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Baremine [c=800000]Especially, suicide bombers. In a public forum debate, one Israeli official (Netanyahu?) mentioned several contributions Israel had made to improve the world. Then he asked, "What have the Palestinians contributed, other than suicide terrorism?"[/c]
Carazaa · F
There have been gun laws in Scandinavia for many years hence very few deaths.
Slade · 56-60, M
@Carazaa so the guns have emotions and personalities now?
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@Slade biden armed muslims who killed and oppressed women on a record scale.
Slade · 56-60, M
@MasterLee and Americans he abandoned
GeniUs · 56-60, M
"Denmark last saw a major terror attack in 2015 - two people were killed at a culture centre and a synagogue in Copenhagen."

Unacceptable. But at least it's not daily with people saying it's unavoidable.
Carazaa · F
@MrBrownstone But not to know love heals, and guns kill. Scandinavians know this 🙂
GeniUs · 56-60, M
@MrBrownstone yeah I don't hang around on here too much since most people chose not to understand very basic principles. For example:
It takes a genius to understand people per capita..
yeah even using that the US leads the way in shootings. But it's not about what's right is it? It's about you being able to hold a weapon much more important than somebody you don't know being able to live.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@GeniUs Is that why the population is going down?
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
Criminals don't abide by the laws. It wouldn't change a thing.
Abstraction · 61-69, M
@Nitedoc
1. In Australia where we introduced laws and it stopped the regular mass shootings. So... yes, gun laws changed things. Big time. They were regular, then they stopped.
2. Mass shootings are not carried out by run of the mill criminals. It's usually either terrorists, or in the US more likely another nutter.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@Abstraction I'm not familiar with that. What laws did they make that stopped the mass shootings? A lot of people here need to know about this.
Abstraction · 61-69, M
@Nitedoc It was a government gun buy-back scheme and tighter controls on who could have a gun. It wasn't a ban, but it reduced the number of guns out there. I think the social conditions are different in Australia, I don't think it's realistic to have the same laws, but there is certainly space to tighten up on assault style weapon ownership, stronger checks on who can have a weapon...
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
They already have the strictest gun laws in Europe.

Surprised the criminals broke that law. 😏
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@LunarOrbit Imagine that…….
Carazaa · F
@LunarOrbit The reason for the only killing in 7 years is because of loving the foreigners and strict gun laws!
Notanymore · 36-40, M
Maybe make murder illegal
Carazaa · F
@ArishMell
I am from Scandinavia and compared to now (after year 2000) Scandinavia has been very peaceful due to its Christian values to love your enemies, and Gods protection for about 1000 years.

What is happening in the USA I believe is Fascist movement teaching hate. The 4th of July killer this week was a fascist. He loved Trump, has a SS on his wall, a fascist symbol also looking like a swastika, and many guns, and believed that "commies are everywhere"
I watched a program 3 nights ago "Hate thy brother" where a woman in the USA was interviewed from a fascist organization in South Carolina and she said, "I wish another Hitler could just kill the Jews in the USA because they don't deserve this country." Her husband looked at her with a smile and said, "I love you!" She and her husband had a house full of small children close to 10 kids that had to salute to the swastika daily.

It is also a consequence of divorce and young boys without Fathers and no guidance

It is also a consequence of work life in the USA that parents don't spend time with kids because they don't have vacations, they have sick leave only. unless they are teachers.
There are very few regulations to control the abuse of an employee in the USA. People work weekends and 60 hr week. And people fire people left and right if they have a problem with someone. Many kids are alone watching tv or video games all summer on their vacations. It is horrifying to see!

It also has a consequence of very little support from grandparents because the country is so big, and people don't live close.

And I also think authoritarian parenting is a problem. It has to do with the huge miliary here where they train young boys in a punitive way, instead of rewarding, so they parent the same way when they become parents. Kids are highly criticized, and many are very mad. Many get kicked out at 18, and there isn't much mass transit so they have to buy a car, and they can't afford it. Many frustrated young. (Many believe that having good mass transit bring the undesirables and homeless to their town)

Many young turn to drugs so there is a huge drug problem too.

All this and easy access to guns are a bad combination.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Carazaa Yes - bad combination indeed.

The drugs problem is fuelled by "celebrities" thinking cocaine clever, although I don't know how much this still goes on. Though drugs are hardly new. Opioids became very fashionable in the 19C, among those able to afford them, but at that time their dangers were probably not recognised. The drug of choice for the poor was often alcohol.

It's a sink or swim society over there, but anyone who suggests going anywhere near the sort of employee protection, health and social systems common across Europe, is apparently thought bordering on "Communist". They do have holidays from work, but very limited. I think two weeks a year is still typical; and I would not be surprised if some employers grant virtually none.

Far-Right, neo-Nazi ideology is not confined to the USA though. It does circulate in many European countries, and one or two, particularly Turkey and Hungary, are becoming increasingly authoritarian at government level.

Back in the early-1980s when we had the noisy but generally dim-witted far-Right groups like the National Front and its ilk in Britain, a police officer once told me they regard the far-Left as the dangerous ones, as they were more crafty and manipulative, with some being discreetly encouraged by the USSR. It seems the opposite polarity now.
Carazaa · F
@ArishMell The "2-week vacation" yearly is 2-week sick leave and if you don't take the sick days then it becomes vacation days. But many mothers have to stay home with their kids when sick, so most have no vacation left in the summer. Except for half a day for Christmas eve, Columbus Day, Memorial Day, June tenth day, 4th of July and veterans' day. Days where they have to catch up on work, or laundry, cleaning, and shopping. The work ethic is great, but it leaves kids alone A LOT! oh, I forgot another reason for frustrated youth is all the deployments and moving that military, navy, and service families have to do. Many kids move once a year to a new school for their entire childhood. Those children have no friends to talk to whom they trust. And then there are parents that don't trust kids to go outside because of "dangers" so they are isolated.

Sorry for being negative about kids' welfare in the USA but it is totally different than in smaller countries with more supportive extended families. I am praying this will change for kids in the USA.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Maybe time to allow citizens to be citizens and not subjects
A conservative is someone who thinks strict laws against guns won’t stop gun crime, but strict laws against abortion will stop abortions.
@Nitedoc Not really. Both guns and abortion are very popular, and passing laws against them will only inconvenience people who want them both. The only way to eliminate guns and abortion would be a police state.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@LeopoldBloom How did prohibition work out?
@MrBrownstone My point exactly. You can't outlaw something popular and expect success. We're going to see similar results with the current attempts to outlaw abortion.
There should have only been one door into and out of the mall
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@independentone How did I cheer?
Time for strict gun laws in Denmark?
Why?
Do they want to disarm their citizens for easier control too?
Budwick · 70-79, M
@ArishMell
that language does not look Scandinavian.
I never said it was Scandanavian. I said -
'Here's some happy citizens singing the praises of good government!'

Carazaa · F
@Budwick Why?
Do they want to disarm their citizens for easier control too?
Is Social democratic countries like Scandinavia there is not a controlling government, no corruption. There was no lock down in Sweden during Covid because the government trusted people to follow rules. And we did. No need for "control", the government cares about its citizens. It's a very gentle government but strong when it comes to helping the country with free social services and programs. All immigrants have a lot of support and education.
antonioioio · 70-79, M
They do and will get a lot stricter, if needed, not like some countrys
Lolz.. didn’t a little guy with a funny moustache say something like that ? 🤔

Sure, because that'll fix the problem, like it did in Chicago or New York, or in England where guns generally are banned. Yeah, that really reduced crime.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
Khenpal1 · M
The shotgun he used was illegal -stolen. He is 22yo Muslim with history of mental illness.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@Khenpal1 so common
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Khenpal1 And the law stopped him?
Khenpal1 · M
@MrBrownstone He is arrested . Actually he used Sauer 200STR, 3 killed , 4 critically wounded, 27 wounded. He tried to reach mental help line before incident and posted YouTube videos . Either way he will get lifetime.
Human1000 · 51-55, M
What a straw man. No one thinks guns would never be used. A reduction in mass murders would be nifty, though.
Carazaa · F
@Human1000 Only 2 in the last 7 years, compared to 2 a day in the USA it doesn't take a genius to understand that gun laws work!
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Carazaa It does take a genius to understand people per capita
Carazaa · F
@MrBrownstone Maybe, but not to know guns kill, and love heals 😘
ArishMell · 70-79, M
By this (Monday) morning's News:

The suspect, a 22yo man, is due in court today. He was known to the Police and medical authorities.

The motive is not yet known but does not appear so far to be terrorist (politically) related.

(We don't yet know what if any relevance his mental health may have, and obviously we should not speculate, especially from a distance.)
Are you now claiming you aren't a Trump loving conservative?
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@independentone Just waiting on your proof
@MrBrownstone Keep waiting. No proof needed for an opinion.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@independentone Your opinion is worth what I paid for it.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Is there more trouble in Denmark
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Not only strict gun laws but I think Denmark is one of the countries where few people would want guns anyway, unless for genuine sports shooting or agricultural pest control.
Don't drag them into your debate and let them deal their own troubles in their own way, it's none of our business

did i miss something

@crownedwithlaurel97 "Several" people killed in Denmark - Copenhagen shopping centre shooting.
