If there is a God then why do all the world leaders behave as if there wasn't one?

Surely you aren't still laboring under the delusion that world leaders are wise?
Lostpoet · M
@Mamapolo2016 I've never labored under that delusion although I have labored under other delusions. World leaders aren't wise nor are they spiritual, but rather self seeking absolutionists.
@Lostpoet World leaders spend their early years climbing and their later years kicking other climbers in the face.

Well if they don't believe there is a God, there is no reason for them to behave as if there was one.
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Lostpoet Ok, thanks for that. But if he is, it is the only orthodox thing about him:)
Lostpoet · M
@Zeusdelight Google, was kinda iffy on if he actually follows it.Bit the majority of Russians are Orthodox Christian.
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
@Lostpoet Ok, good information, thank you.

my guess is that, if there is a god, humans haven't come even close to understanding it. if some supreme intelligence created this whole universe I doubt very strongly that he is the petty dictator who needs to be worshiped and has the occasional anger fit where he murders vast numbers of people, like in the bible. I also don't think any behavior lead to some post-life punishment.
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
@Lostpoet punishment brings no justice, its just a deterent, victims get nothing from having their bullies punished. if someone acts good only because they are afraid of punishment then they are not good, they are evil forced to act good to avoid punishment. the most moral person is then logically a person who fears no god but still acts good because he actually wants to. Immanuel Kant said there are 3 reasons why people act morally: 1; to be seen acting morally 2: out of fear of autority 3: because they actually have moral autonomy. only the third person can be said to be a good person.
Lostpoet · M
@reflectingmonkey I agree with that and I still don't want to see evil people get away with crimes.
reflectingmonkey · 51-55, M
@Lostpoet I agree with you, and what I said was to argue against the idea that an eternal punishment is needed for us to be moral. as for human justice system, I do believe that punishment is a good deterent and I also believe that by emprisoning or even killing certain individuals we can protect innocent people. what I don't believe is the idea that they must suffer for their crime to satisfy some kind of revenge. I think compassion brings more peace in the heart than hatred. I think people corrupt their hearts when they rejoice in the punishment of others. I believe in love and forgiveness. to the bad person, instead of wishing that they rot in jail, I say " we love you and we would have prefered to live in peace with you but now we cannot risk that you harm innocent people so, sadly, we must put you in jail. " no hatred is necessary to aply justice, only love, in this case, love of the innocent forces us to isolate bad people or punish them in the hope that they will learn something from it.

If I knew the answer to that then I would know why "special" people pronounce GIF as "jiff"
@TrashCat Not to be that guy, and I don't actually think he gets to dictate how it's pronounced, but the guy who invented it said it's pronounced "jiff".
TrashCat · M
@LordShadowfire The guy is an idiot

IT'S CLEARLY "G I F" with a hard G

An even better question. If there's a god how the hell could that God allow Biden to get in power?
Pfuzylogic · M
I am so glad that there is a God and everyone voted a new President just in time!
I was not ready for an apocalypse with someone that isn’t operating with a full deck.
Bleach for medicine
Nuclear bombs for hurricanes
Doesn’t he check with anyone on his ignorance?
Fishy · F
Actually, the Bible says that the world is lying in the hands of the wicked one,

Also Jesus said "my Kingdom is no part of this world"

I guess it implies that God and world leaders aren't on the same side 😂
Queendragonfly · 31-35, F
@Fishy Jesus is a slippery one
Martinette · 41-45, F
They think they are God.
Current batch of leaders are anti god..
dictators dont like any authority higher than themselves…
Lostpoet · M
RedBaron · M
Because the existence of God is nothing but a classic self-fulfilling prophecy.

God exists only for those who believe God exists and simultaneously does not exist for those who don’t believe.

There is no objective proof of God’s existence.
RedBaron · M
@Lostpoet Huh? Emotions are irrelevant here.

God exists FOR YOU because you believe.
Lostpoet · M
@RedBaron Because I believe in emotions
RedBaron · M
@Lostpoet Good for you.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
You don't want to mix politics with Religious zealotry. Not again. It took 2,000 years to break that cycle.
Lostpoet · M
I think you are right@Thevy29
On the last day the leaders of the world will stand in silence before God.

They have a heavy responsibility
Lostpoet · M
@sunriselover To me a world leader is no more significant than a bumb on the street.
melissa001 · 51-55, F
Because people have free will.
melissa001 · 51-55, F
@Lostpoet well God gave people free will. I know people get told what to do in everyday life.
Lostpoet · M
@melissa001 In a country founded on the belief that God gave humankind unalienable rights we have the world's biggest incarceration population.
melissa001 · 51-55, F
@Lostpoet I said what I said and I don't want to have a discussion about it. Sorry
They certainly act as if nobody's going to hold them accountable, that's for sure.
Lostpoet · M
@LordShadowfire They act that way until they get caught and face their crimes against humanity.
Casheyane · F
@LordShadowfire I have to agree on this one. Sometimes I do wonder if leaders feel accountable for their actions, and to whom.
