A question for Non-Americans. Is the USA a joke now?

I’m an American and agree with Thomas. I don’t know what is wrong with my countrymen who still believe Trump should be anyplace but in prison at this point. 🤨
RachelLia2003 · 18-21, F
godly trump politics

I'm an American and I feel like America is a joke now.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm American, but my dad is from Germany and I spend a lot of time there. The general view is that America is about to be taken over by a minority of lunatic fascists.
ArtieKat · M
I think that assessment is fairly accurate
Ontheroad · M
I'm an American and I agree with Thomas. I also think that I don't much care (in some ways) what others think. Without us, you'd all be ruled by Nazi Germany or Russia, or China.

So yeah, we have some serious problems. Just be glad you have the rights and privileges you have. Over 600,000 of us have fought and died (almost all of them on your soil) protecting them for you.
Ontheroad · M
@Really No questions about the events that precipitated our going to war, but without our involvement, guess where the world would be today... yeah, you wouldn't even have the internet or the freedoms you have, or very likely the life you have.
Really · 80-89, M
@Ontheroad Without the involvement of ANY of the allies - or any of their their enemies; or the allegedly neutral countries, what "would have happened" ?

Guess away; it's meaningless fantasy. What happened, is what happened. Tens of millions of people on all sides suffered and died; the bulk of them civilians and conscripts with no choice in the matter.

No one carries all the guilt or deserves all the praise for what happened in WW2.
Ontheroad · M
@Really Yup, what could have been doesn't matter. All we can do is go forward and try to make better decisions and choices.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
An evil joke. And probably always has been.
jackieash · 26-30
As I am English. I find Britain a total joke. That is enough to be going on with.
Correct me on this, inmates in the US can not vote, can they? Yet a convicted person can run for president? At one time I could understand the rationale in emotion and logic, say a woman being hung for being a witch when women were persecuted? Yet it's certain very few would have rallied behind that person. Now the US has someone of the greatest prosperity from family riches, citing how the world thwarts him, while his life was handed a golden key. But what happens when policy and actual matters are disguised with self-loathing to the point he is now defending the majority from the minority.

That's how it reads from another country. And it can win. (Those accused of witchcraft never would have)
jehova · 31-35, M
@thewindupbirdchronicles i assume to trump u are reffering. And i dont think its fair or just but theyy will plead he is too old to know what he was doing then say im too young to run. America the disenfranchized. Also i agree that with charges pending a candidate should not be allowed to b considered or eligible for political office. This shit wouldnt fly in new york state.
Instead its all about this aholes 'fake money'
Heartlander · 80-89, M
That pretty much fits my feelings about Joe Biden.

If there's a difference, Biden has the benefit of our mainstream media filtering Biden while turning up the volume on Trump.
@Heartlander which country are you in?
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@JonLosAngeles66

What country? FLYOVER COIUNTRY, aka KANSAS. Not to be confused with California, New York, or Los Angeles.
Auggie · M
From what I see the whole world has been laughing at the current president for 3 1/2 years.
@Auggie what country are you in?
tindrummer · M
@Auggie bs but definitely thought t was/is a dangerous joke
BigImo · 22-25, F
@Auggie I promise you we haven't. The current president is far too boring. The one before him however was comedy gold
BigImo · 22-25, F
At this point it isn't even funny. It's just a terrible country all round
@BigImo so beyond joke for you
BigImo · 22-25, F
@JonLosAngeles66 it's just sad
@BigImo A parody? You have to listen to those within instead of the politicians..
Torsten · 36-40, M
yeah without a doubt and its not due to Trump
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Torsten what's your take on it?
Torsten · 36-40, M
@JonLosAngeles66 its certain Americans obsessed with politicians and all the radical identity politics and all that.
Granted i know there are Americans that are against that and i am not including them in this, so if you're offended by me saying these type of people are a joke to the outside world, good chances being you are one of them
( i dont mean you JonLosAngeles66, just speaking in general)
Heartlander · 80-89, M
If not for the USA, New Zealand would have been annexed by Japan by 1945.
jehova · 31-35, M
@Heartlander might have been better? How was rule by england until new zeland?
Nobody cares about your TDS and you certainly dont speak for an entire country..

Lolz
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Pretty accurate i think.
Again, i don't think it's Trump per se it's more to do with the extremes of candidate that winds itself into the position of even being considered as THE representative of a people.

And America has a long history of that
It's because they are rich and can afford to run. @Picklebobble2
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Spoiledbrat That's even worse.
Money buys position and power it's true.
But it's the underlying stuff that's concerning.

By your rationale you can be the worst possible candidate.....providing you can raise more funding as you go campaigning.
And that will be enough to secure your parties support
kodiac · 22-25, M
It's a joke ,but not because of Trump
jehova · 31-35, M
I agree 200%
@MasterLee which country are you from?
As an American, this place is a fucking joke, between Sleepy Joe, Donald Dump, the economy, and all these shootings its like a fucking story book of bullshit
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
More of a threat than a joke.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@MasterLee Still less harmful. At least seemingly.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@CrazyMusicLover than obama? Since obama is still puppeteer then it is just as bad
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@MasterLee I'm not aware of being affected during the period in which he was the president in any negative way.
snofan · M
Every word is so true. If I never heard another word about America again it would still be too soon.

I’d say it’s more of an unstable problem
Really · 80-89, M
Very dark humor
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
Yes. No. Pot. Kettle. Black.
@lumberjackslam Again, I invite you to name names. The quote also mentions crass materialism, vulgarity, and being monumentally unqualified. What 'pot' is comparable to Trump's 'kettle'??
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
@ElwoodBlues Bolsanaro, Wilders, Le Pen. I have no reason to follow NZ politics specifically but I am sure there are right wing politicians there. Anyways he took a shot at America specifically so dont switch it to politicians.
@lumberjackslam OK, I see your point.
Luckily, in the nuclear nations, the crazies are marginal.
Renaci · 36-40
It's literally a threat on a planetary scale.
It's a comedy and a tragedy all in one.
swirlie · 31-35, F
The Prime Minister of Canada stated at a NATO conference that if the USA wants to perceive itself as being the Chairman of world affairs, then the voting into Presidential Office of an American hopeful, needs to be taken out of the hands of the American people and put into the hands of the remaining G-19 League of Nations using a margin of 50%.

This means that 50% of the vote for US President should be coming from the Leaders of those other G-Nations, while the remaining 50% of the vote for US President be left in the hands of the American people whom have otherwise demonstrated gross incompetency in determining the Leader of their own country since the Cold War era.

Quite frankly as a Canadian and living right next door to the poor bastards, I agree with PM Trudeau on that issue, especially when 51% of the entire American population never even got out to vote in 2016 when Trump got Elected in the first place.

In that sad case, Trump got Elected by 51% of the remaining 49% of Americans who actually got off their asses and showed up to vote. What that means is, it only took 26% of the American population to vote Trump into Office. That's gross incompetency at it's finest.

The world cannot have the apathetic as well as incompetent American people deciding who the Chairman of world affairs should be, which is what the Prime Minister was eluding to anytime the USA Elects a new President!
jehova · 31-35, M
@JonLosAngeles66 yes we agree there too
swirlie · 31-35, F
@jehova
...and that is why the world cannot have an American President acting as the Chairman of world affairs, because to do otherwise can potentially bring the rest of the world down to the same level a US President is coming from.
jehova · 31-35, M
@swirlie well put miss.
empanadas · 31-35, M
I'm American but I have family in DR, Spain and Costa Rica. Nobody wants to go to the USA. Only the lower classes. Before the USA was held at such a high esteem, you used to see middle class and higher wanting go to the usa but not anymore. Basically everybody is saying they are watching the fall of an empire. Had family members that got sick in the USA and bought the first flight out of the USA to not pay the ridiculous high bill.
empanadas · 31-35, M
@CrazyMusicLover yeah I can see the UK as well. I know a lot of people in the EU are going to Norway, poland or Germany nowdays. Sad how much the USA has fallen
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@empanadas
@CrazyMusicLover

When do you think the US started imploding? And why?

I understand what you are saying about medical cost. A one day visit to the emergency room can run up a $100,000 tab if you don't have the right insurance. Meanwhile if an insurance company has to pick up the tab it can do so with pocket change. How the hell did we get into such extreme imbalance for how people are treated? Where the hell are the anti-trust and fair pricing cops?
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@empanadas Yup, Canada, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria

Really Poland? 😮 What do they do there?
