@beermeplease Lol, you’re killin’ me!
beermeplease · M
@Bumbles i loved the 80s concert scene....maiden, priest, floyd, megadeth, motley, g n r , slayer, alice, scorpions, it's endless what i saw
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@beermeplease You saw them all, wow. In the 80s I saw The Who, the Clash, Bruce, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, X, Pixies, the Dead. I was in LA so could have seen them all, but wasn’t my scene. They would have looked at me funny.
I agree … 70s were the golden time of music …
eli1601 · 70-79, M
From about 1962 to about 1975. Of course there was great music before and after, but that was the sweet spot.
TravisTx · M
60’s and 70’s were my favorite decades as well. Although there was some great music made before and after also.
Gusman · 61-69, M
For me it has to be the 60s.
So many great songs, so much great song writing.
50s music does not get as much credit as it deserves.

60s and 70s until Disc

To each one the magic of their own generation.
In my case I listen a wide range of music from almost all times and culture.

@ElRengo I do like a bit of music from before my time. I like Motown and other vintage soul music.

70’s or perhaps leaning more toward the late 60’s rather than the early 89’s.

Commercial radio's purpose is to make money and rightfully so. Attracting those that have disposable income to spend at the time.
All of us can cherry-pick and compare. Especially with what is currently called "popular" music. For myself, I’m always interested in challenging my ears. Plenty of good new music is out there, but thanks to the internet, sources have changed.

Best year 1972
KarenisKenziesmum · 51-55, F
@KiwiBird That was the year I was born. Apparently this was number one when I was born (no, I don't like it):

I will alway love the 60s for the Beatles and Motown. And the 70s because that was the music of my teen years, too.
softspokenman · M
@bijouxbroussard I also enjoyed 'The Brothers Gibb' during the 60's and 70's 💛
crazyhorsex · M
No doubt it is the 70's.
Fullmetal · 46-50, M
The 70's by far!!
80's 90:s
rfatoday · 61-69, M
I agree that it's very subjective, but I'd say the 70's as well. Mid to late 70's. So many great bands... Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits, Genesis, Steely Dan... the list goes on.

60s - 90s
ArtieKat · M
I agree with your staggered decade - but I loved the era of "Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac", the original (and cumbersomely named) incarnation
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
Thirties or forties, more top level bands and music composed and played. The music endures today.
supersnipe · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 The swing era was a sweet spot for sure. I have posted a few things by German/Swiss bands from those days.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@supersnipe i play on a band which specializes in the original charts.
smiler2012 · 56-60
@Teileach i agree sixties and seventies music was good did not mind the eighties either i like a bit of fleetwood mac myself
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
Each decade has music I like, but I think the 2010s and 20s is going downhill, lots of manufacturing of music in a lab
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
It's like choosing a favorite child, it shouldn't be done -each decade brought its own things to love.
Bowenw · 61-69, M
I love 70s and 80s, but still enjoy a lot of the music since then.
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
Once disco became popular not much good music emerged
KarenisKenziesmum · 51-55, F
The 1990s.
ElRengo · 70-79, M
Agree
RedBaron · M
That’s a matter of opinion and preference. There’s no objectively “best decade.”
MrsMONAKanful · 36-40, F
every new artist copied / used their songs that is what went wrong now unique style
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
1976-1986 (a decade doesn’t have to end w a zero).
Midlifemale · 61-69, M
I agree with you on that
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
I've got a good feeling about the 2040s...
Really though, I don't think there was a best decade. It's all subjective

70's...hands down.
