In a word - Wokeness. Netflix publicly displayed a disturbing shift into woke politics.

Netflix lost 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter of 2022 and their stock crashed 37 percent on one day. Even Elon Musk tweeted what everyone was thinking: “The woke mind virus is making Netflix unwatchable.” Netflix then projected losing ten times as much - 2,000,000 subscribers - in the April-June period due in part to woke activists they hired going on a woke programming binge. Netflix leadership suddenly realized what the left has been feeding them isn’t health food—it’s cyanide.

In the interest of self preservation, Netflix ended it’s love affair with Wokeism by laying-off 150 employees they hired to work on woke programming and issued a memo to its staff rebuking censorship:


It wasn’t just leftist personnel who were shown the door. A whole lineup of woke programming was terminated. Meghan Markle’s doomed animation Pearl (based on Meghan herself), “Antiracist Baby” and “Stamped: Racism, Antiracism and You,” and two adaptions by Critical Race Theory expert Dr. Ibram X. Kendi”. All gone because it finally became apparent that NO ONE wants what the Left is selling.

all the woke shit gets old after a while; as if it isn't bad enough scrolling through all the garbage "black history month" movies and tv shows; now they're doing it for queers, the race nonsense and the gender confused.

Apparently the idea that people watch stuff based on genre and what they like rather than whatever is being politicized at any given time is lost on them... 🤷‍♂️

I think it’s that they suck. Their new content is rare, and rarely is it good.

The content is horrible.

One word: COMPETITION

With Amazon, Apple, Disney, HBO, Hulu, and probably others bidding up the price of quality content, and siphoning away subscribers, it's much harder to balance the budget than it used to be.

There are now too many subscription streaming platforms, and they are in a battle to be a big player when the market shakes out. Amazon & Apple have other giant businesses and can afford to lose a few billion while waiting out the others. Disney has the best established names - Marvel, Disney, & Star Wars - to lure subscribers. HBO is the oldest & most established. HBO & Disney may have significant cable revenues.

I don't know who will survive the coming shakeout, but there are too many platforms right now.

they cant seem to keep content and they're no longer willing or able to make big gambles on new things [partly becuse they dont give new, good shows a chance to mature]. the market has tipped for streaming, now everyone is building their own service and flix cant innovate anymore. often the case that entities that start trends quickly fall out of and cant compete with newer, leanrr, later entrants to the field. ala pan am. polaroid. kodak....

People do not appreciate their WOKE policies.

Shared accounts and woke programs

Their business model is flawed. They underestimated the negative effects of binge watching. Very soon people run out of content to watch no matter how large your database is.
Their problem is similar to keyboard/fast -typing issue. The reason we have QWERTY for instance is to slow humans down. Humans were typing way faster that machines could process when the keyboard layout was ABCDEF.
Netflix needs to slow things down. Put a limit on how many seasons per show one can watch in a week, or deliver one episode per week or charge few cents per number of episodes, add commercials etc.

They raised their prices which was fine for a little but, the oil and gas prices have priority. You can live without Netflix, but you can’t live without energy and fuel. They predicted losing 2 million and only lost 1 million. When the economy balances out, their prices will adjust and become more affordable again. There maybe one or two other cheaper options out there but so far Netflix is rocking it. They seem to have good financial projection skills.

It's getting to woke and they keep on canceling all their good streaming shows.

Are they? I feel like Netflix is being "shorted" and basically all that happened is they stopped growing as much as they were.

They aren't going anywhere and I think these "problems" are overblown.

Because TV should be free. If ads don't pay for it, people who have something to perform will want to put on videos.

They're not struggling yet, they just saw a big dip in viewership. But yeah, I'd say that's because the lockdowns ended.

There are other streaming services now and nexflix makes a lot of shows itself too which has to be expensive..

The rendering of the lbqubirt stuff, is not good T.V.

It's easy to stream free content.

Because Netflix never had good content to begin with. 90% of their shows or movies are either filled with sex and nudity or a lot of gay people and then there's failed attempts to make live-action animes that end up being trash.
