Not at all. It takes place at Christmas but that doesn't make it a Christmas movie. The movie itself has nothing to do with Christmas and it is irrelevant to the story

If it wasn't Christmas the building would be full and the robbers wouldn't be able to rob it. The film only works because its at Christmas. There are also plenty of Christmas references throughout the film.

Cult classic that's been adopted by millions all over the world as a Christmas film geared for the mature audience that crave a bit of nostalgia over literally decades of being played on the regular during Christmas.

Agreed it wasn't meant to be a Christmas movie. But over time and circumstances over said time. It just is.
