My wife works in nursing and has said as much. She’s also pointed out how many times CPR chest compressions are portrayed as love taps when in reality it’s a pretty violent endeavor causing cracked ribs.

IRL you would if you can physically move the patient after assessing them for a neck injury. Some folks weigh a ton!

because in the movies, directors want to show the persons face, while getting CPR, you see the person trying to breathe, etc. it's all for the movie trying tp thrill the audiance

It's like a lot of things in drama: the action is symbolic of an event rather than a faithful realist enactment of fact. Similarly, heart attacks don't always happen as portrayed and sex is very stylised. Most heroes would be dead after their first beating if what you see on the screen was to be taken at face value.

@FreddieUK true but if theyre detailed enough to fill an actors mouth with water and force them to lay on their back and cpugh they could as easily have them rolled over. It just gives me anxiety.

They are supposed to do that lay them on the side it’s in cpr training
NeuroticByNature · 41-45, F
@Monalisasmith86 it gives me serious anxiety watching it lol
Wallflow3r · 31-35, F
You cant really do cpr on someone that is laying on there side
NeuroticByNature · 41-45, F
@Wallflow3r if they started coughing up water they wouldnt need CPR anymore.
Wallflow3r · 31-35, F
@NeuroticByNature I would 😌
NeuroticByNature · 41-45, F
@Wallflow3r maybe me too depending on who was giving it.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
They rarely check the airway first before commencing CPR. Or in modern movies they do the old standard CPR and not the new one.

Because they are not truly drowning. It's all make believe.
