On tv shows or movies when someone is drowning and they are revived with CPR and start coughing up water why do they never turn them on their side?

Im not a nurse but wouldn't it be easier to cough out water when laying onto your side?

They rarely check the airway first before commencing CPR. Or in modern movies they do the old standard CPR and not the new one.
