My dear friend, in your great and incredible kindness, you took your friend into your home because he was hurting. You arranged for him to see a therapist. The therapist started him on medications for depression.
Did you know that even in mildly depressed people, depression meds can cause suicidal ideation? And your friend was already thinking about it. That is why he wanted to stay with you.
I don't think you, or he, will be safe if he continues to live with you, quite honestly. You CAN'T keep your heart meds locked up.
AND you have to think about your children. What would happen, if he comes back, and does this again? And you don't find him in time? Would your kids wake up in the morning to find a dead body?
One of your great strengths is the love you feel for everyone you know, AND your need to take care of them and protect them.
I think your Buddy needs medical care from the professionals now, and in the near future...and you HAVE to think about your own safety, and that of your children.

What an awful situation to go through. Your buddy must be at his lowest to go as far as he did.
Will he be referred to a councillor, is that something that might happen?
Star, your father has been really sad for quite a while now and to try to ease the grief he swallowed some pills in the hope that it would numb the pain.
He reacted badly to the pills and we had an ambulance take him to hospital where he is resting now.
Something along those lines?

@Cigarguy Years ago, one of my closest friends tried to commit suicide and thank God she didn't succeed. She has had intense therapy and psychiatric help over the years. Even though she is ok now, I do worry about her when it comes to that. Hopefully your buddy will receive the professional help he needs.

@Barefooter25 yes he is seeing my therapist and I personally think my therapist has done a complete 180 on my life it has gotten so much better so I think he will be very good for him but he only started seeing him a week ago.

@YoMomma yes he's in intensive care right now and their monitoring his heart rate for the next 12 hours I think to make sure it doesn't drop anymore I take beta blockers so he's lucky his heart didn't stop before the paramedics got to him and then he's going to be admitted into the hospital on a 92 hour hold. After that I have no idea what we're going to do we'll just have to take it one day at a time
