My depression has become a full blown eating disorder

I don't remember when it started, but I noticed that I'm having reluctance towards food now. I know I need to eat so I can take my meds. I used to love food very much and I still do think about what I'd like to eat at every meal time but when it comes to actually eat it, I'd feel disgust and it makes me nauseated. And if I forced myself to eat, I'd struggle to keep it down to the point I can't function right.

Does anyone have the same experience? How do I overcome this?

Move your body.

It's good for your mental condition (dopamine release and physical exertion, and it's good for your body, obviously. you don't describe an actual eating disorder, but you may be overlapping some wires with changes in your lifestyle. Start by doing the easy things - eat right, move, work on your mind - and if that doesn't help, you can reach out for help.

@DarkHeaven I shall remember that. ♥ I think I've wronged myself all these years by being so hard on myself to be better again and again. It's hard that people around me are doing that to me on daily basis but I didn't realised I was doing the same thing to me too. I've been busy putting everyone else first that I've forgotten to take myself into consideration. This quote was like a huge wake up call.

My life is a little brighter and my heart a little less heavy today.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for all the advices, suggestions and encouragements from all of you guys. I never thought I'd find such precious people here. ♥

Baby steps. Xx

@mistfox There are some really great people here who'll be happy to reach out when you need them. Best of luck - we're all in this thing together,

It’s so hard. You have to retrain your stomach and your mind. And the battle is never fully over. I still fight it today. Light and love.
@mistfox It’s the stages of grief. Before we can build anew, we must first grieve what’s been lost. Be patient with yourself. You deserve that. Light & love.

@DarkHeaven thank you for reminding me of that. I now realised that I'm can be very harsh and hard on myself that I forgot to be kind to myself too.
Xx
@mistfox

Try smoking some weed. It might help with your appetite and the nausea. I know folks that are going through chemothrerapy and they tell me it really helps them.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@melbeacher For chemotherapy. Not for eating disorders. If that's what this is, that can be deadly advice.
melbeacher · 56-60, M
@Graylight Sorry, my bad.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@melbeacher No harm, no foul, and it does stimulate appetite for sure. This just may not be applicable. 😉

Good exercise should help, if not go to the doctor. You need to eat, it keeps your mind in a better place.
I eat too much I think and the wrong things, but when I get really depressed I do not eat.
If it persists, please see the doctor.
When im at work i have zero appetite but when im at home i eat all day and get fat

Maybe you are just feeling ill at ease and stressed and so cant find interest in food..

Go to OverEater Anonymous.
There's 12 step program there for all that stuff your talking about .
Do it on your own, and you'll fail , and when you fail , you end up going on more binges and feel worse and worse about yourself .
A 12 step program changes all of that
@riseofthemachine she starves, not the other way.

@DarkHeaven The over eater meetings work with every sickness concerned around eating or not .
They give you a food plan the 1st time you go in there .
It works for all conditions .😊
@riseofthemachine I’ve been anorexic most of my life… and it’s a really difficult issue. I didn’t know that, though. So, ty.

You should get a physical check up
mistfox · 36-40, F
@Doomflower I have psych appointment every month. Part of me is reluctant to bring up the eating disorder issue afraid they gonna give me more meds to swallow. But if I want to get better then I guess I should let them know.

I have a friend who has ARFID(avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder). I'm not aware of exactly what she does, but she works with a therapist.
mistfox · 36-40, F
@uncalled4 I don't have a therapist atm. But I do have my psychiatrist appointment every month. I'll bring the issue up and hopefully they can help.
