In your opinion, how old does one have to be before they can start using the phrase, "Back in my day"

I grew up back in the days when the paper boy would deliver the newspaper to my house. I started getting the paper delivered. Great way to unplug from cell phone.

How about when a new era is formulated and you belong to the one immediately before?

I've lost track - ('cause I'm a Boomer which was the best era ever, btw 😁) - but whatever this current gen is (Gen Z?) becomes obsolete (at the age of 15 maybe?) then they'd become the new old timers.

I used to like saying that phrase to old people when I was a teenager. They would get irrationally upset about it and inform me that I'm too young to have a day.

As fast as things change now, I'd say around first or second grade.

Any age so long as the time they are referring to is in their lifetime!

Depends on the audience. To me, it either means in pre-television days or in the age of typewriters. My parents used it on me to mean pre-WW II or more loosely, pre-1950.

It’s more about who you’re speaking [b]to[/b]. At your age, with teenagers and early twenty-somethings it’s appropriate. 😉

I say it to everyone younger than me, even by a year for lulz.
