How do you keep the memories of a departed loved one alive?

Once or twice a day I walk down to the Hospice were my wife passed away over a year ago. And then I smoke a doobie with her.
It’s kind of like that song – I’ll give you a daisy a day – but with doobies.
Cheers!

My husband passed away from a brain hemorrhage in 2024. I have his photos all over the house, I play his favorite music or songs that make me think of him. I talk out loud to him in the house or car too.

On Valentine's day I took him a bunch of flowers to the crematorium which he'd have told me off for and then I bought and cooked a steak dinner which he'd have loved. These little things make me feel closer to him. Hope you're doing ok under the circumstances X

@Nanoose I have had to learn finances too. My husband managed all of our money and gave me a budget so it's been quite difficult but I'm getting there. I think he would be proud of me.

@PatientlyWaiting25 Not sure about this but a few months ago I started sorting out the important papers and there were a couple of times I felt her telling me not to throw that piece of paper away. Then I surprised her by getting up and getting elastic bands to put around my piles of envelops. Cheers!

@Nanoose I'm a Christian, I have felt that kind of thing many times ❤

My house is full of mementos of trips we took together; someone recently said it looked liked a museum. Each one I look at reminds me of the good times we had together.

And then there are the grandkids. Just spent a long weekend with them and their parents, as well as granddaughter's fiance and future in-laws. And every time I see what successful lives they are building for themselves I think of how proud she would be of them, and hoping/knowing she is able to observe, appreciate, and smile happily.

Photographs. I read things my father wrote and sometimes talk to him.

@exexec Yeah I find photos good for bringing out memories. Cheers!
