What's your biggest life regret so far?

AllycatAD · 26-30
Not being there when my stepfather passed away in a memory care facility almost a year ago,
the mental anguish of dementia made him hallucinate and had violent outbursts.
He had to be reminded everyday who his daughters were

I should never have gone back to Canada after high school. Not for the reasons I did anyway.

Nothing against Canada, I love the country and would love to live there again at some point. The relationship I went back for dissolved pretty quickly though and I ended up on thr antidepressants that were partially responsible for me being disabled. Should have just moved on from that relationship when we moved back to the states when I was 15.

Not being there for my mom before she passed. I missed her by just minutes but she left me a letter.

I should of waited one stinking year to go on my van adventure and I'd of been a lot better off financially. But I didn't know what I didn't know and I was ready to roll.

I'll answer the question the subtle yet important point you make here calls for. It's OK to trust. But trust (like respect) is earned, not given. If someone broke your trust that's on them, not you.

Here Data's trust was betrayed by a friend, but Riker explains things very well. Hope this offers some perspective.

@PatKirby they all did. But it's not about the risk taken, it's about the fakeness of the bond. Hope that brings some perspective.

I understand. One thing I have found enjoying life on this earth is that people are all different, in different stages of their lives while interacting with each other, and do things like that for a reason but mostly because of fear. This is something only you can resolve.
