for or against gay marriage?

personally, I am in support of it.
I honestly dont get why anyone cares enough to be against it and act as if marriage is only right if its between a man and women.
With last i heard the divorce rate being close to 70% of marriages now, Straight people have done a good job ruining marriages on their own.
If gay people wanna be miserable like the rest of those married, who is anyone to deny them that?

I’m for anyone getting married as long as it’s a mutual want of theirs, unless they’re a child of course.
Torsten · 36-40, M
@MellyMel22 I am with you there completely

MrAboo · 36-40, M
Marriage is between a man and a woman. If two gay people want to be married, then they need to come up with their own word that they can be joined together in. Civil union is fine. So if two gay people want to be together in the context of marriage that's fine. Don't butcher the meaning of the word.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@MrAboo So you're essentially saying that it's a non-requirement; since animals don't exchange rings, a marriage would still be a marriage without rings exchange. Good, now apply the very same principle to gender roles.

Agreed...ewww I am disgusted at just the thought of it. "You can now kiss the bride" 🤢
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
Not only is it everybody's right to be with whomever they want to be and love whomever they want to, it's also important when people live together and have agreed to be in a partnership to have the legal documents, in many instances they are helpful. Marriage is not just a paper like they say, whether we like it or not it's a bureaucratic thing that's necessary for many people. And before people start bringing up their religion, first of all we're talking about civil marriages, not religious ones- churches have the right to deny doing them but the state is a whole other thing and secondly there are many cases of white marriages, marriage for any kind of profit but not out of love. You can't restrict people like that, especially in a democratic and free society.
It's against the Bible and isn't right. Only liberals want or don't see a problem with gay marriage

@Carissimi
I just stated what the Bible says, no more, no less.
You claimed "God did decide" but offered no evidence that this god thing even exists, never mind wrote the bible, so you were only stating an opinion. As you said above, "Opinions are NOT facts".
Carissimi · F
It’s a pity you don’t know the difference between an opinion and a fact. Sigh 😔 I never argued for the existence or the non existence of God. I stated a fact: that a book called the Bible states that the God of The Bible (regardless of whether you believe in said God or not) reveals that this God (whether you believe in this God or not – are you getting my point yet?) does not condone homosexuality. So, therefore if one believes in this God, then this God has already decided. Whether you believe in the God of The Bible is irrelevant to the fact I stated. If you still don’t get it, that’s on you, and I’m done repeating myself. @Sharon

I know the difference but it's clear you don't. I've explained it to you as simply as I can.

If you don’t want a gay marriage, don’t get one. It’s really simple. 🤷‍♀️
Greyjedi · M
For it, no problem and more people get to openly express themselves. I’d rather gays and lesbians marry who they actually want than pretend to be straight like me and break apart families later. Anyone who says “its a problem because bible”. Clearly does not know Jesus. Jesus, your lord and savior accepted everyone lepers, leprechauns, whores and lesbians. The “god” of the Old Testament was evil and no different from your 👿. So shut up about all the lies and bigotry of the Old Testament. They only people Jesus did not particularly like were the corrupt and evil. Anyone who is a Christian should act like it and let their enemies kill them.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Greyjedi

For although people knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
Legal marriage, in the eyes of the law, is a contract between two people, entailing certain responsibilities and benefits.

I am totally fine with two people of the same sex entering into a legal marriage contract.

In a church, marriage is something different. It's up to each church and religion to decide if same sex church marriage fits with their rules.

I'd like to ask church people not to conflate church marriage with legal marriage, but I expect my request falls on deaf ears.
Cantsayno · 56-60, M
As long as it's mutual and of consulting adults. Anyone should be able to marry anyone else. Who am I to say they can't.
Cantsayno · 56-60, M
@Carissimi everyone knew what I meant. You brought up a topic that had nothing to do with this post.
Carissimi · F
No! I asked you a question that was related to your statement. You gave an absolute statement, and I sought clarification on your meaning. It’s obvious you can’t have a rational discussion, and I’m just repeating myself, so I’ll not bother after this. @Cantsayno
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Carissimi wernt you just criticizing before about arguing with peoples opinions on this thread?
I guess that only applies if you agree with peoples opinion

Everyone deserves to be happy. Gays deserve it just as much as everyone else
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M
I support the right for everyone to marry whomever they wish so long as there is consent (CONSENT). Whether or not i agree with it is irrelevant in my eyes.
Fungirlmmm · 51-55, F
Against it for myself but I don't care what anyone else does.
Mardrae · F
I’m for it. Anyone should be able to marry anyone that they love.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
People should be able to marry if they want to.
CaptainKirk · 41-45, M
It’s fine for other people but I’d prefer not to marry a guy, I don’t think my wife would like me to either
CassandraSissy · 26-30, T
Good points, sweetie......

Me and my guy had a big, long chat a long while ago now regarding this very issue. Whilst we are happy for anyone to get married to anyone (close family members/age issues etc obviously exempt from this!), we personally are happy enough with just engagement, which we did on Valentine's Day this year....

Being engaged to each other, for us, is the same as making that pledge...

😘
redredred · M
Absolutely for it! Gay people should be just as miserable as the rest of us.

Please understand the difference between criticizing an opinion and asking a question and seeking clarification.

I’m responding here because I can no longer reply to that post. I’m done here. You all need to go back to school and learn the difference between opinions and questions.

I have no problems with it.
scrood · 31-35
No way it's an affront to humanity
JestAJester · 31-35, M
I dont care either way. Less competition for me and less kids being born. What ive been hearing about marriages and relationships and how they're so impossibly fragile nowadays almost makes me not want one.
exexec · 61-69, C
For it. I have some dear friends who went to another state to be married, and they are quite happy.

I honestly don't care one way or the other. Live and let live .

I'm against it, marriage is a christian thing. However, I've been known to let people ruin themselves if that's what they stubbornly want.

For. Marriage, ultimately, is a legal institution. When mine was done, I didn't go to a church, I went to court.

I am against it. That is my opinion.
