Have you ever been called for Jury duty?

Extremely rare that I am at this end of the CBD at 7.30 in the morning.
Having breakfast, over the road is the District Court. At least 200 people are lined up outside, stretching along the footpath.
As they enter, they are showing a piece of paper to the attendant. Must be potential jurors, going in for the selection process.
The one time I was chosen for jury duty, maybe 1995 - 97? I do not remember lining up outside such as is happening now.

I was at a time when I was desperately searching for a job, and they let me off because of that. I am sorry never to have been called again (so far); I do think it is part of one's civic duty, and could be interesting.

Once. Got out of it by being argumentative during jury selection. 😆

Must say there was no line as such. We all were in a rather large waiting room with chairs.

Even with WiFi and TV's. No charging stations however or electrical plugs.

TV's were suspended from the ceiling. Drink and snack vending machines were available for money. Not cheap either. If I remember right coffee was $1.50.

Must mention that was about 2020 and it was the second time I was called for selection. The first I as well got out of it. Too far away. Job paid for the day off however.

I've had to go to the courthouse for jury duty every few years.

Only was close to being on a jury twice: the one (a criminal case) I was dismissed because the start date for the trial was the day before I was leaving for a business trip; the other (a civil suit) I was dismissed because I knew someone who lived in the apartment complex where the event (trip and fall) leading the the case had happened.

I generally try to get to the courthouse early so, while I might have to wait outside for a while before they open the doors, I'll get through security quickly

I was called repeatedly when I was a young married woman living in Brockton. In fact, I was called at least five times. I showed up every time, and sat, and waited, and they never needed us.

Once, however, my son was having surgery and I had to ask to be excused.

Yes, we had to sit in a cafeteria and wait for our number to be called. Then we were taken to a court room and each person in turn was asked questions and accepted or rejected until they had enough jurists. Then back to the cafeteria until the next jury empanelling. I was not even asked questions and the day was over. That competed my rotation. Now I am too old.

Several times. The jury pool was small in my hometown, so I was called to jury duty every two or three years. Once we moved to Texas, I had jury duty in the District Courts four or five times and in the City Court one time. I served as jury foreman three times. Now I can avoid serving due to my age.
Once.. told em that I think I remember that Dood from high school.( I didn’t)
Instant dismissal 🤓

Yes I have been called but when I went for selection they told me that the selection was cancelled and my name went back into the lottery. I have never served on a jury.

Yes a few times but I've never been picked because of my medical issues

I have and honestly didn’t mind it. Wasn’t anything big but was an experience.

Only called once. The date comes but they said they didn't need me anymore

I was sort of half excited because true crime is somewhat interesting
Yes.
Dismissed for my likely inability to keep up with all the information.
If you're believed to not be able to perform the duty at full capacity, they don't want you there.
