@AthrillatheHunt Carpenter's not always good at what he does, but he sure knew what he was doing in 1982

Cube and all its sequels, Hereditary, the candy man, all the Chucky movies...
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
@Ferric67 I'm a fan as well, the early Hellraiser movies were good. And I think there's a movie called the midnight meat train also based on him
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
@GeistInTheMachine I loved Bride and seed of Chucky but not everyone liked those
Ferric67 · M
@SatanBurger I read Midnight Meat Train, and I started to watch the movie just a couple of days ago. I fell asleep midway through....which happens a lot to me since I wake up early everyday. I will finish watching it today, it stars Bradley Cooper
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
Hereditary is good.

Doctor Sleep.
The follow up to The Shining, I hated the first hour of this (a lot of brutal horror is implied without shoeing* too much) but it is such a well constructed film that by the end I really appreciated what it was all about.

@GeniUs i thought dr sleep was boring.
GeniUs · 56-60, M
@AngelUnforgiven I thought it was a technical film ie not one to watch if you are tired or drunk. What would you consider a good horror film?
GeniUs · 56-60, M
3 horror films not to watch because F.All happens:
The Blair Witch Project
Paranormal Activity
Vivarium
I watched Vivarium this week and stuck it out to the bitter end hoping for some twist or something, there was nothing. It was like a horror short that should've been 10 minutes and it would've still been crap.

Zyzzyx Road (2006) was so scary it was pulled from theaters (actually just one theater) after a single screening.
Google it and see!

White Dog
The Reason Why To Watch It:
Besides giving Cujo an easy run for its money as the scariest killer dog movie ever made, White Dog is also a chilling tale centered on a dog trained to kill black people on sight. Though not technically a horror film (it’s much closer to a straight drama than anything else) the themes and depictions of animal attacks certainly qualifies it as a terrifying film in its own right. Raising intense questions about racism – how much it’s able to be undone via education or whether it's an ineradicable scourge, and the implications of either of those answers, White Dog is a vital film that might make a striking double feature with Get Out.[center]

Inland Empire.
Scariest movie I've ever seen. Be careful with this one. It's not for everyone and you might hate it. It's very long and hard to sit through it all as it feels like being in a nightmare. But no horror has ever affected me as much as this movie.

@astrosandorbits really? The 1st time i watched it i think i missed a few things so i read up on it and i read about the grandmother and the cult and it made more sense when i watched it the 2nd time.
astrosandorbits · 26-30, M
@AngelUnforgiven the grandmother and the cult? I'm not sure i remember. Can you elaborate? I've only seen it once and I'm too terrified of that movie to watch it again.

Horror movies are the best at night, when you're alone in your house. However, I never watch them in my bedroom.
For me, the best part is having to switch off the light and make your way back through the house to bed after the movie!

To this day, I will not go into the ocean if I can not see the bottom.
No way of knowing what is down there, something could come up from the depths and devour me. No thanks.
Traditional Horror?
Rosemary's Baby

Dusk Till Dawn.
It's just an ordinary road trip movie I thought when I flipped the channel to it without any knowledge of what I was going to be watching.

'Cabin in the Woods' is an effective meta-horror and is surprising good. I'm not normally a horror fan, but this one stuck in my head.
I'm not much of a horror movie person, but I really like cabin in the woods.

Even within the genre, depends on what you like. I’m not a fan of slash ‘em ups, I prefer psychological thrillers, like "The Innocents". I also like older ones like "Lair Of The White Worm", "An American Werewolf In London".
