Pepper spray is generally better for self defense.

a) There's a lot less legal risk in using nonlethal force, less likely to wind up in a lengthy court battle or a prison cell.
b) You're less likely to hesitate to make someone's eyes feel like they're burning for a few hours than you are to hesitate to kill someone. That hesitation could be the difference between life and death.
c) The risk of being hurt in an accidental discharge is much lower with pepper spray.
d) Pepper spray invites less government oversight and is allowed in more situations than a firearm is.

That thought has crossed my mind as well. If i get gas at night thankfully the gas station also doubles as a second police station because the who department is there at night.

I travel at night on dark country roads which I know from personal experience are not safe.

If you get one. Train and practice. When you get comfortable, train and practice more.

Given the number of disgusting creeps out there, of course a young woman is going to feel nervous, especially at night. Often times the bad guys have guns, why not the good guys?

All these people saying getting a gun is a bad idea, I wonder if they would discourage their own daughters from getting one if she lived in a bad city.

People say "People are often killed by their own gun" or even, "Self defense methods do not really work" and maybe that is true but in the worst situations, you have to try something, anything to maybe escape the danger. If you do nothing, you are dead meat. If you at least try, you might survive.

Of course do train with it and use it only if absolutely necessary.

That is understandable. A hammerless revolver would be a good starting point. Then, you would need to learn to shoot it accurately. My friend put a laser on hers for nighttime and for the intimidation factor. Take the courses, know the law, and you are golden.

You from being nervous or feeling anxiety whey you are out getting gas?

Can you imagine the remorse you would feel if you shot and killed somebody while you were getting gas?

A nervous person is the most dangerous person to have a gun.

You do what you feel comfortable with, only thing is please get training if you buy one.

Well do you have a car remote and on the remote you might have a panic button . keep your keys with you and if anything happens press the panic also try to stick with gas station very well lite and have camera's outside.

Buy gas during the day.
