I experienced one in physical therapy, also have one of my own at home. For me, it seems to give relief in the moments that it is in use. Not very expensive to own. Worth trying, I think

Hubs has one that was recommended by his PT. It’s helped him since his knee replacement.

@Pinkstarburst thank you. They are supposed to be good

@jshm2 i have tried one before, for fun out of curiosity - it felt like a mild electric fence and i felt my muscle contract and a tingly sensation.
I do imagine it depends where you put it, the output and the type of delivery. Some are continual outputs, some are rythmic and some are spasmodic.

I have one, I've liked the results I've had with it. I'd say they're mostly worth it, so long as you have the right expectations and don't go crazy on the hardware.

@NOS4R2 Yes, start low. Very low. I did PT after several surgeries. During one PT visit they wanted me to try a Tens unit. Ok, no problem. The Tens rep was even there, knew the thing well. They hooked me up. And gave me a pep talk. Ooook… then the rep started the unit, and at first it was ok. I felt a zapping but mild. That rep must’ve been into inflicting pain because he kept dialing up and my god it was painful. I kept telling him enough. He ignored me. I rarely cry with physical pain but he purposely brought me to tears.

@PaisleyHeart GOODNESS, that sounds awful!
Did you ever go back or try it again?

@NOS4R2 I didn’t have to deal with the rep again and said no to the Tens unit. Bad experience for me.

I bought a model for home use on Amazon, and it did seem to help while I was actively using it...until one day it developed a short and zapped me pretty hard.

What is the purpose you would use it for?

@GuyWithOpinions Nutrition is important.
Truth is, theres only so much food one can eat at one time. And i dont like working on a full stomach. I have changed my eating to be healthier.

@NOS4R2 the trick is 6 small meals a day rather than 3 big meals. Atleast thats what i hear. Keeps your metabolism primed.
NOS4R2 · 41-45
@GuyWithOpinions i have heard the opposite, that eating too often keeps the body in a state of digestion and little or no time for rest and healing, which can lead to inflammation.
But then i also believe that everyone finds what works for them if they pay attention to their body.

They do have uses in therapy for muscles. So if you are in physio or have problems with swelling in your legs, for example..😷
NOS4R2 · 41-45
@whowasthatmaskedman My work is physical. Some days i get home and once i wind down im sore. So i want it for recovery, but also to help me tone the muscles, (the lazy mans way), that do get sore.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@NOS4R2 I have seen videos of Arnie using a modified Tens Belt for body core work. But thats really heavy duty..😷
NOS4R2 · 41-45
@whowasthatmaskedman i need this . Im a marshmallow 😱
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
I used one as part of physical therapy. It can be used for fun too.
MyNameIsHurl · 41-45, F
Yesssssss, you did the right thing
NOS4R2 · 41-45
@MyNameIsHurl Oh thank you for replying.
Ive spent all morning reading reviews, going to different sites, comparing machines and my brain feels like mush.
I think ive chosen a decent medical grade one.
There are too many to choose from and too many scam products, all very confusing.

Yes, they work OK. Just be careful and make sure the power is turned DOWN. Then slowly turn it up.
TexChik · F
If you bought a good machine you will enjoy the relief.
I cannot use one because of heart issues.
