The older we get the less our body tolerates and processes meat; salt; sugar; fats; starch and certain carbs.
That's how we end up with diabetes in later life because our organs are already saturated and can't deal with any more, and sadly, so much of our food requires those things to prolong shelf life

I dont think it stops we just handle it differently because we grow a tolerance to it over time. Surgar and salt is in pretty much everything we eat.

@GuyWithOpinions Salt isn't so bad, as our bodies need it, but sugar is just poison.
We were never designed to eat it the way we do today .

It doesn't. It's just less extreme in adults coz of our larger bodies.

I'm 31 and unless it's just a weird coincidence, I still get that high sometimes. More often it translates into restlessness and irritation though. Then it feels like you have excess energy that you don't know what to do with.

I have never seen this effect in any of my own kids or grandkids. My grandkid & partner claim it's a fact but they wouldn't really know because they're too scared to ever give their kid any sugar or chocolate. He's a actually bit strange; maybe that's why 😄.

You get exactly the same amount of energy, but if you are unable to make use of it that energy will be converted to fat and stored in the body.

@SunshineGirl I'm very old. I think maybe I've lived this long because there's no food I'm scared of. 😅. The flipside is I grew up on wartime deprivation and THAT didn't do me any harm either. Oh and despite my chocolate & sugar consumption I am not diabetic or obese like so many of the people I see . Just disappointed that eating my crusts didn't give me curly hair. 🤥
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@Really I was the kid who ate everyone else's crusts . . I didn't get curls either!

It shows as type 2 diabetes later in life but just before it shows up as being grumpy when hungry and that’s the sugar addiction

There's now evidence that sugar highs aren't real
AccursedAlexander3 · 31-35, M
It depends how you take it.
Sugar rush is the best.

It doesnt .
It just presents differently.
People can get irrational, sleepy, argumentative, weepy, depressed, irritated, scattered, hyper focused ...and many other things, from sugar highs.
And it's not alleged, glucose spikes are a real thing medicine can measure .

@pancakeslam I'm 87 and it hasn't started yet. Talk about 'late onset' !
