@OlderSometimesWiser Yep, my feelings exactly! I actually involuntarily vomit from those things. And Edamame, not as bad a reaction, but no thanks.
@OlderSometimesWiser I eat them boiled, fried, roasted, even raw!! Love them!!
WizardofOz · 26-30, M
Celery. I don't know if there is anything special you have to do with them, but they were stringy and taste bitter af!
Penny · 46-50, F
@WizardofOz i love celery but you have to peel it lol. The outside layer is very tough and stringy and can be bitterish. Its great peeled and washed with peanut butter raw. Or i like it cooked a few different ways. ETA it's also good raw with sour cream onion dip
WizardofOz · 26-30, M
@Penny I just looked it up! I can use a potato peeler to do it. Is this common knowledge? I am gonna try it, because I actually have some celery left over from making potato salad. The wife said you don't need to peel it for potato salad, if you use a grater. She said that a grater will leave the tough skin behind. Very interesting.

@WizardofOz cool

I guess I'll never say "never", but I have no desire to eat raw cauliflower again.
Partly this is due to a memory I have of a week in which a complimentary box lunch was packed for me by the office I was doing extra work for, and raw cauliflower was in it every day. By the end of the week I felt as if nails were scraping the insides of my stomach.

Zucchini. Why is it sweaty? 🤢

SW-User
@Colonelmustardseed it goes to the gym regularly. . .
Colonelmustardseed · 36-40
@SW-User Must be why it’s so healthy. But still, I’d rather not have any. 🤭
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Cauliflower…used to eat it often and for the past couple of years it gave me digestive distress. I can’t stand to eat one bite of it now.

SW-User
@cherokeepatti oof, I love the stuff
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SW-User I use to steam it with broccoli and carrots nearly every week. Had it in other dishes too. No more.

Beetroot and tomato😷

SW-User
@whowasthatmaskedman Tomato is not a vegetable, but I get your point. Not a fan, myself
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@SW-User Exactly. Tomato is a blight on existence😷

SW-User
@whowasthatmaskedman
Tomatoes are swell! But beets - pickled beets - are an abomination for sure.
Maybe I won't eat black tomatoes, though.

i love most veggies. all the ones people hate. one i will not abide is raw cabbage, as in cole slaw 🤢
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@SW-User I used to like coleslaw as a kid ironically. Pretty gross nowadays. However, I order a chicken sandwhich at Dave's Hot Chicken one time and it came with some type of special, in-house slaw. It was pretty good. But typical slaw 🤢

SW-User
@iamnikki i've seen sandwiches like that. people seem to love them but that would ruin it for me. ick!
metaldog · 51-55, F
Can't think of one

I can see you as a little kid -
Mom: Eat all your vegetables
You: Ok! Yum yum yum!!
(A likely scenario... NOT!)

I just ate some broccoli. It was in a vegetable/beef dish delivered from The Mandarin yesterday. It was the last dish eaten, too - - I was starving so I had no choice!

raw dark green bell pepper
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@CrazyMusicLover do you like yellow bell pepper? Tastes good raw as a sandwhich

CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@iamnikki Yellow and red is fine but dark green makes me sick. My favorite is spicy light green/yellow that is called PCR here but still I can't always digest it well. Sometimes it causes problems sometimes not.

There are also these long thin light green peppers I like but I don't know what they are called.

My father, for some reason or other, loved the first two. He also poured BeeHive corn syrup on almost everything.

I'm allergic to cooked broccoli and cauliflower, and cilanto makes me gag.
@iamnikki Cooking always changes molecular and chemical structures with food, often times for the better, many times for the worse.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@NativePortlander1970 well yea, I know it changes the foods and often cooking it cooks away the nutrients. I was just wondering how it leads to allergy. Guess that was explanation enough 😬
