When I started my current job, long shifts, 14 hours a day, dealing with people's safety. Need it at work like an exorcist needs their cross.

My father did his doctorate in Chicago, and came back with a taste for things you didn't get back here then, like Chinese, Indian, Italian and TexMex food. Coffee was another, and the family would have two latte cups of perked coffee each morning, including we children.

@novaguy2u India and TexMEX Circa 1950 Chicago? I

My town went from a handful of Indians in the mid 1980s, to nearly 1/3rd of the population now thanks to the tech industry. I still have not warmed up to curry.
novaguy2u · 70-79, M
@Northwest Yep, you couldn't get those dishes here, so he learnt how to make them.

My neighbor when I was a newlywed. She suggested I drink the leftover coffee my ex made and didn’t want to finish it. I had complained to her that he wasted half of what he made every morning. I wish I had never started.

I grew up drinking tea, with milk and sugar. When I was 24 I would go to a small bakery for a cinnamon twist almost every morning but the tea was always lukewarm and weak. So I began drinking coffee.

My old coworkers - it started out as an excuse to leave the office for a few minutes every morning when they went to dunkin... and then I ended up with a 2/day turbo ice habit.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
My mother offered me coffee as I was growing up, but I never liked it. I still don't.
AsianEyezChulaRp · 31-35, F
@DrWatson I never was offered as a kid coffee. I don’t remember if my biological family was a coffee fan,

but my foster family were they never offered me and my adopted family.

They offered me when I was in high school like senior year and I did not like it.
AsianEyezChulaRp · 31-35, F
@DrWatson have you ever tried extra cream or sugar lol that’s how my sister got me to like it
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@AsianEyezChulaRp Sure, but that just shows me that the only way I can tolerate coffee is to not taste the coffee, so there's not much point to drinking it! 😄

My hubby. Was never a coffee drinker until he got me hooked. 🤭
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Lilymoon In other words, you married a drug dealer! 😄
Lilymoon · F
@DrWatson yup 😄

@Lilymoon I always had the feeling that you were living life on the wild side!

I had coffee with breakfast when I was around 10. I mainly dunked my toast in it. I didn't start drinking it until college.

As a kid I enjoyed Cafe Au Lait as a morning kick off. Simmering whole milk, a little coffee and sugar mixed in.
a shady character on the street offered me a free one for my first go...

On my own at 12 years old. I’ve always been curious by nature

I’m pretty sure that’s what was in my baby bottle from the start…. Seriously I don’t remember when I started drinking coffee, a staple drink for as long as I remember.

What’s it taste like?
Northwest · M
@AsianEyezChulaRp Never had coffee, but when I see people spend a half hour adding stuff to hide the actual taste, I can't help but wonder why 😂 and I've been in Seattle for decades.
AsianEyezChulaRp · 31-35, F
@Northwest That’s me, girl I be hiding the taste. I think I still taste it, but not as strong as others lol the trendy thing that’s been going on for years.

People will add like for example, premier shake, or the premier protein powder into the coffee with caramel and they lose weight ever since ,I came out I’ve been doing the protein powder blend with my coffee, a little creamer and caramel,
And I say my coffee is not as strong because the coffee package says to do a certain amount of coffee and ,I do less than that so ,

for example it says measure a cup and a half of ground coffee for 6 ounces of water, I don’t do that I do 1 tablespoon maybe two with 12 ounces of water and it’s fine for me. I don’t like it strong. 🤣
AsianEyezChulaRp · 31-35, F
@Northwest before the whole trendy situation happened with the protein, I would’ve had like half a cup of creamer or 4 tablespoons of creamer in my coffee and my sister is like no wonder it doesn’t work for you because all you have is milk🤣

, but I don’t do it that way no more it’s one tablespoon or 2 tablespoons of creamer

SJones48 · 41-45, M
I never drink it
AsianEyezChulaRp · 31-35, F
@SJones48 I was the same way until my sister told me have more cream or sugar and that helped from the first day I had it. I have less cream, but it’s still good enough.
SJones48 · 41-45, M
@AsianEyezChulaRp I prefer canned Dr Pepper’s
AsianEyezChulaRp · 31-35, F
@SJones48 i’m not a fan of Coca-Cola Pepsi nor Dr Pepper to be honest I’m very picky with sodas. It has to be orange/strawberry/strawberry lemonade even though that’s not a soda but still or grape pineapple / Mountain Dew, soda lol I’m not so much of a Sprite, but I prefer a sprite over dark, not trying to be rude, but that’s just how it is.

The only dark drink I like is a drink. It’s like soda. I don’t know if you heard of it or seen it. Malta lol my coffee is not even black to be honest because I do 1 tablespoon of creamer/trivia and caramel with half of my protein powder vanilla and it’s like a creamy color🤣

It was way back in college when I started drinking it.
