Do you insist visitors to you home remove their shoes before entering ?

Or is it just me? 😛
Yes- but only because of my Zambian wife- it is her culture's custom!

@BritishFailedAesthetic so many types of parasites can be in soil that can get tracked inside the home
@cherokeepatti You sound like my wife! 🤭
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@BritishFailedAesthetic good and she is right. So many in America think that parasites are a third world country problem but they are in waterways and soil and pets and in meat & seafood…even can be on produce. Don’t need to be walking into the house with street shoes on. Parasites can be linked to a number of health issues that doctors seem not to pick up on. There was a man with unrelenting back pain who went to 25 different doctors and none of them knew what his problem was, he had all kinds of scans and they couldn’t find anything. Someone told him about a chiropractor in Wichita Kansas that might be able to help. He drove up there. The chiropractor ran a metal device over his spine and told him where the pain was located (which was correct). Told him he would run a blood test and it came back that day positive for a parasite that had bored through his intestine and lodged near his spine and was causing nerve pain. He gave the man a pill and told him to take it and if the pain wasn’t completely gone to come back on Monday and get a second pill. He stayed in a motel and went back on Monday because some pain was remaining, got the 2nd pill and the pain was completely gone after that. It might have been Ivermectin, the lady that told me was his mother’s neighbor and she didn’t know what he was given.

Nope. I don't want their athletes foot fungus on my floor, and I don't want to smell their feet, and I don't want to take the chance that they will slip and fall on my linoleum. 😁😁😁
@4meAndyou Wish my wife could be more like you! "Carefree" as she calls me 😂
Nimbus · M
@4meAndyou Covering all bases! ;)
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Yes except for repairmen and other such types. I bought 2 large packs of disposable shoe covers for $1 each at the discount store for any that enter now
Nimbus · M
@cherokeepatti That's generous of you :)
olderuncle944 · 70-79, M
My mother would make us wipe out shoes off her house was spotless,
Nimbus · M
@olderuncle944 Yea, it's not so commonplace these days.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
Yes once in the door.
Nimbus · M
@Degbeme Yea, it might be cold outside ;)
SW-User
No, I don't insist, because my visitors have all been family who never heard of such a thing and wouldn't understand it. The ex and I had a policy of only wearing socks or soft soled slippers around the house though.
Nimbus · M
@SW-User 👍
nedkelly · 61-69, M
I insist that all scousers piss off, as I live in a respectable area.

No, only if it is wet as we have tiles throughout the house
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@nedkelly That’s what I want…. Those tiles that look like wood floors
Nimbus · M
@nedkelly Can't agree more Ned ;)
smiler2012 · 56-60
{@nimbus] 😆lol never knew a manchester united fan could be so house proud
Nimbus · M
@smiler2012 That's because you know no better 😆
nedkelly · 61-69, M
@Nimbus all scousers take off their shoes before entering the jail cells
Raaii · 22-25, F
nah really not just you

It's just a common sense here to remove shoes before entering someone's home
If they sit untidily.. they’re out!
Nimbus · M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Without a XXXX too! 😄
Never. I live rather rurally. Guest are encouraged to keep their shoes on. In winter, they can remove their boots. I have spare slippers. I do not get a lot of guests. And I am not obsessive about my floors. I vacuum daily. Mop sometimes. And sweep too. Max, my puppy, and Sasha, my senior dog, both shed fur.
Nimbus · M
@PoetryNEmotion Sounds reasonable.
eyeno · M
Where I live its common practice.., 🤙🏼

Nimbus · M
@eyeno Cool! 👍
ShaneMckay · 41-45, M
Hell no! Why on earth would I do that??? I do not have a "stinky sock fetish"!!!
Nimbus · M
@ShaneMckay @ShaneMckay Might be dog crap on their shoes ;)
ShaneMckay · 41-45, M
@Nimbus And the chances of that, IF they're alert enough to watch where they're walking??? Perhaps your friends should put their damn phones in their pockets while doing the difficult task of walking!!
Thodsis · 51-55, M
I'd much prefer it if they left their shoes at home.

And stayed within them...
Nimbus · M
@Thodsis 😄
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
I always have but my bf doesn't like to do it, so of course we live his way. 😒

Muthafukajones · 46-50, M

Given that my daughters dog still thinks the upstairs is a urinal, I don't bother....
Nimbus · M
@originnone In need of a little training uh? ;)
originnone · 61-69, M
@Nimbus He's 10 years old. I've modeled my behavior to match his....
exexec · 61-69, C
No, that has never been a custom at our house, but some visitors do it anyway.
Nimbus · M
@exexec Sounds fair 👍
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
I insist that my daughter and her friends remove footwear before entering. For everyone else it is optional.
SW-User
Only if they're wearing socks. I don't wanna see ugly feet.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SW-User I have house socks if anyone wants to wear them
Yep, I totally get the concept and love it
Nimbus · M
@metaldog 😛
Lilymoon · F
I don't insist but it's nice if they do. 🙃
Nimbus · M
@Lilymoon Yes, that is totally reasonable.
MasterLee · 56-60, M

Nimbus · M

bookerdana · M

What a noightmare
Elanor · F
Sure do, as I do in their house it’s respectful ✨
Nimbus · M
@Elanor Good point 👍
Nimbus · M
@Azlotto Me neither.
@ShaneMckay No, dripped oil and other fluids from vehicles get on the soles of shoes, which then track onto the floors and carpeting. Learn to think.
ShaneMckay · 41-45, M
@NativePortlander1970 SUCH a problem!! (But only at YOUR house!)
@ShaneMckay Do you walk through parking lots at stores and your place of employment? You show by your reply that you do not know how to think rationally, nor with any logic.
