Do you struggle with......

Body image issues....type?

My parents are tall. Pop 6'5"...my momma's 5'9".

My sister and I 6' even.

In part, the gender influenced nature of development; I was a fully developed 6' tall woman in the sixth grade.

A package for a 13 year old mindset to carry.

Folding myself in a desk ...in the back of a classroom.

Add to that wreckage the fact that ... oftentimes beside me ..is my exact double.

A societal circus attraction. Rarely would we mingle in the same space.

Becoming more an more comfortable in my skin ..baby steps...

If only I could rock high heels other than Halloween.

On summer break from high school I was involved in a jet ski accident, broke my back. I had 2 vertebrae removed which had left me with a slight hunchback. I still look in the mirror and notice that I'm a little off, but I won't let it interfere with me dressing up! 😊

Wear those heels! Anytime you want!
Punxi · F
@forestgirl Your endurance inspires me.

Thank you for sharing that. 🩷

@Punxi Aside from the noticeable posture change, I have a long scar running across my spine. So I had a tattoo to help disguise it

All I have to say is you're perfect supermodel height. I'm tall myself, at least taller than people average height people here, and the only downside I to it is that men prefer shorter women. But because I don't care about men, overall men here, I don't see any downsides anymore to it.
I reach unavailable places, I have long legs and hands, also very useful, and I've always actually liked my height because it gave me advantages.
I do wear heels. And you should too. Plus it's a power trip lol

Wear whatever you want, models also wear heels and they don't care. It's not your problem, the rest of the world has to catch up to you 💃🏽

@greensnacks Thank you...for that. I needed to " hear" it spoken. 🩷

Hey, I’m only 5’ish and honestly, I’m good with it. Everyone’s got their own stuff to deal with when it comes to body image. Lately, I’ve also been dealing with some annoying rashes. Fun, right? But hey, baby steps all around. Sending good vibes your way! 👾
I'm only 4ft 9 - so, I get to bug @ShepherdBard about who's the bigger one of the two of us... it generally gets a few laughs.

Under the surface, I hate it because I was always bullied over it - even as an adult when I went to work, I was expected to be able to carry two armfuls of heavy stock and a plastic steppy stool that wasn't on wheels to hang items on the top rack instead of just leaving the stuff I can't reach for my taller colleagues to hang. Then, I got reprimanded for leaving the stool out in front of customers.

All this was at a charity shop, mind. They weren't very charitable towards me when all was said and done.
Punxi · F
@HootyTheNightOwl I get it...One must wonder.... Is the issue mine alone or how much is influenced by the mindless scte of others.

Even though I was never openly bullied...size....it will always be the whisper mill that I'll remember.

I've seen your posts and comments here Hooty and I think you're fabulous.

Couldn’t resist 😜

Kidding aside, we all have all sorts of issues. Even those seemingly perfect looking supermodels do. It’s hard at any age but more so at the age when it hit you. Baby steps as you say it.
Punxi · F
@MrGrumpy You know ..you really ain't so grumpy. 🫣
MrGrumpy · M
@Punxi Therapy works 😜
You were 6' by the 6th grade and stopped growing?

I'm 6'2", but didn't hit 6' until the 8th grade.

Well as adults, people should be used to it by now (assuming you are an adult) and your height is a great thing!
@Punxi Me too, you are not alone
Punxi · F
@sstronaut 🩷
@sstronaut You might have hit puberty - and the associated growth spurts at a different age, though... girls tend to start puberty slightly earlier than boys - so you would've been playing catch up. 🤔🤔🤔
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Being super tall as a woman is not easy - I can't imagine what you went through if you were that tall at 13 years old! But it also makes you different and amazing. I hope that you continue to learn to love every bit of your body. Also totally wear heels. Be DOMINANT.
Punxi · F
@CountScrofula Thank you ..for that. 🩷
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@Punxi One of my besties is six feet tall and it took her a while but she's really come into her own and knows she's hot as hell and owning it. It was a process for her though.
My dad was 6'4, now a respectful 6'2. My mum just hit 5'. My sis 5'8 and me, 5'5. My mum was a uk8 until she had me. My sis was a uk6 until she had my niece. We're now all around the same size. I was never slim/skinny. I wore a bra before my sis eventhough shes older, but we've all got huge tiddies. Shes blonde and blue eyed - european epitome of stunner. Im the weird dark haired one.

Only since I had my own child did I start to care less.
@V00doo "weird dark one"
You mean, hot, melanin-fueled, genetically superior one 😌
Punxi · F
@V00doo Thanks for stepping to the plate. Power in a crowded room. 🩷
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
I know the struggle. I'm 5'9 and 200+ lbs. Big just runs in my family. 🤷🏻‍♀
Punxi · F
@DearAmbellina2113 Same. Was in the dumps and my boss urged me to cheer up .." you're only an inch taller than Taylor Swift...🤣
Lugwho · 61-69, M
I had a growth spurt over a summer holidays when I was 15. I peaked at 196 cm. I was always very self conscious about being a lot taller than everyone. I still don't like going to the theatre or cinema incase I block peoples view.
ShepherdBard · 31-35, M
I can relate on the opposite end of the spectrum. I grew up real self conscious and got a lot of crap from other kids but I’m way more confident with myself as an adult. I’m not completely there but baby steps are the way to go
Pherick · 41-45, M
What kills me about this is that we are making a big deal out of literal inches. If you don't have a genetic disorder then really the range we are talking about for "normal humans" is like 4'"10 or so to 6'4"? I mean yes a small number of "normal" people fall outside that range, but the vast majority is in there.

I just can't understand why it would make any difference to anyone what someones height is. Its such a weird thing to base any kind of decision, feelings or perceptions on. Its like judging someone based on their foot size, or how big their hands are ... its just an odd physical quirk that you are the size you are and I am the size I am.

People are weird who would stare or treat anyone oddly because of something like this.
Punxi · F
@Pherick Well said Sir.
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
I’m really short (5ft), and always wished for more height. I feel I’m never fully satisfied with my body shape/weight/height… but I am better at letting go of it instead of obsessing.
Punxi · F
@WaryWitchWandering Ya gotta know this...even sporadic as our interactions maybe.....the fighter in me sees the fighter in you.

@ThesebootsRmade4walking Thank you Boots. 🩷

It's like ... I'm slightly successful. ...at what I set out to accomplish scholastically. You reach a point...least I begining to where as I've said...hell with this...lol.

Popeye...I ams what I am.

🤷
We have tall women in our family, too (alas, I am not one of them at 5’5"). My mother was 5’8” and my sisters are 5’9" and 6’0".
While I’m not particularly tall, I was one of those girls who "developed" early. I was wearing a 32C bra at age 12, which terrified my mother.
Punxi · F
@bijouxbroussard Yeah...my mom as well. Was frequently approached and hit on by grown men at 13.

I feel you B

Thanks for your input.
When I was younger, but anything different when you're kid sticks out. In middle school and in high school I was usually the tallest girl in class so you know kids... I automatically became a "STRETCH"
Punxi · F
@FreeSpirit1 A mean bunch round that time for sure. 🤷
@Punxi harmless really, today it's much worse with social media .
Punxi · F
@FreeSpirit1 Ugh!!! True that. Didn't really have that pressure thankfully...and you either.
Becoming more an more comfortable in my skin ..baby steps...

Think of it this way - there's more of you to love than most folks.
Punxi · F
@rinkydinkydoink J......🩷
thepeculiarpanda · 36-40, M
Yup. I definitely battle some body dysmorphia. Depending on how close I am to a mirror, I can either see that I'm muscular or I still feel like I'm 145 pounds and thin as a toothpick.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
When I was much younger *grade school age* my best buddy was a girl who towered over me. I swear she lived to punch me. 🙄 But we had the best times hanging out. Then she moved away and my world fell apart. 🥺
Nobody · 18-21, FNew
I don't struggle with my image. I'm a slim lightweight of average height and good proportion.
tobynshorty · 51-55, F
I’m short and always wanted to be tall but it was never a big problem.
mindless · M
I think tall women are awesome

So please be tall and proud!
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
You know how rare you are ? Scarcity equals value. I’m 6’4” and love being able to look a women in heels in the eyes.
Lilymoon · F
I was always embarrassed about having tiny boobs. Now I'm ok with it
Lilymoon · F
Punxi · F
@Lilymoon Isn't it it always something we don't have that remains the carrot on the stick...

I'm your opposite. 🤷

Happy to hear you've moved on. 🩷
Lilymoon · F
@Punxi it is! And thanks

exexec · 70-79, C
Not now. When I was younger, I wanted to be taller. My wife wanted bigger boobs, but not enough to have surgery.
Not so much anymore

I'm too old to gaf to be honest

All I care about is my health
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
Did you have a difficult time because of it? Were you sort of pushed into athletics?
Punxi · F
@samueltyler2 Difficult time .. physical, hell no. Mentality....only that which resonates from childhood .
Dealing with that.

I was never pushed into anything.

Buried myself in books and remained a student for ten years after highschool. 🤷
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Punxi What do you do?
pdockal · 56-60, M
Why can't you rock high heels ?????
pdockal · 56-60, M
It's all about the confidence
Punxi · F
@pdockal I do... seldom...but ..

I'm decent pumps I'm 6'2"...ish. 🤷
pdockal · 56-60, M
@Punxi

Whomever has an issue with that ... that's they're problem ... they're tons of guys or galls that wouldn't mind climbing on and going for a ride
