Shut off his phone line and tell him he has to pay for the phone line by helping you around the house. The money he earns by helping you will be put toward he's phone line.

@lovebeingasissy This is the worst advice I have heard yet... and the advice here is pretty bad and way off the mark.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
Be careful picking up his socks.😐

Mine went through the same stage. They do grow out of it. Not that you asked for advice but stick to your guns and don’t give in. They are trying to see how much they can get away with and will keep pushing. Don’t be afraid of WW3. It’s the only way they will learn and respect your authority.

If he thinks you're being annoying and lazy congratulate yourself. It means you're doing everything absolutely right and you're a fab Mum. He will know how to do things, be self sufficient, responsible and capable. 🙂

If he gets too much just change the Wifi password till his attitude improves

It’s normal. It gets better

Take the phone away and tell him he will get it back after his chores are done

I had 4 kids. The best i can say is stick to your guns and dont let him run everything.

Don't worry, this is normal, just a phase..

The brain goes through a major overhaul/rewiring during adolescence. There’s also a cascade of sex hormones, a change in melatonin transcription and a dramatically increased sensitivity to stress.
Exercise (competitive or not) in small peer groups is shown to be the best way to reduce stress.

Inthink i kept my kid too busy with activities to act up. Karate, scouts, violin , and confirmation. We packed in a few others but it got to be too much. Computer came later but he didnt have a cell phone.

I think the one thing I most wanted from my parents at that age was something approaching respect. Sometimes the best way to learn a behavior is by observing it it others.

{@blackdiamond ] the boy needs to realize there is no free meal ticket and needs too help around the house , generally pull his weight and take a bit of responsibility in the day to day running of the home
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
Yes I get that still! Told my daughter to take out the recycles, after much eye rolling and cupboard slaming she did it. Not to mentioned I've done it the last 5 times even if its her job.

He is different to anyone else; he needs to be taught the hard facts of life so that he treats the who love and care right
froggtongue · M
I certainly don't envy you having to deal with such things. I wouldn't know what to do nor how to handle it.
Like2play · M
Take the phone. Does her pay for it? Link it to your set time limits and have it shut down at a time each day.
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
Typical for his age, but you’re doing the right thing by getting him involved!
RedBaron · M
He's just doing his job as a teenager. Before you know it, he will be grown and out of the house.
Oh... he's a big boy now, eh???
Maybe mum should take a day or two off doing what she does for him and see how he copes without help...

Just take his phone. Let him do chores then he can have his phone back.

They're all the same at that age.
Try not to nag and rather talk to him maybe?

I think all pre teen boys are like this.
What until he gets older.
My mother asked my brother to put the rubbish out one day and he slung her over his shoulder and took her outside.
