Pre teen boys are frustrating

My son is turning 13 in February and he's been awful lately. I asked him to run the trash out and he gave me the biggest eyeroll, sighed and made a show out of it. I told him that wasn't necessary which made him upset. Today i asked for some help in the kitchen and he was dramatic again. All he does is sit on his phone and ignore everyone. I know if I take his phone away that will be world war 3. He also mutters under his breath that im annoying or lazy too

Mine went through the same stage. They do grow out of it. Not that you asked for advice but stick to your guns and don’t give in. They are trying to see how much they can get away with and will keep pushing. Don’t be afraid of WW3. It’s the only way they will learn and respect your authority.
