Despite what you hear, particularly about politics, America is a melting pot. It doesn’t matter what your religion is or your political stance. Your neighbor is your neighbor. Basically we all get along.
Personally, I think it’s easier to succeed here. Get an education and work hard. Generally speaking, you’ll be rewarded. Upward mobility is much harder in most countries.

@swirlie My wife is from the UK. I also work in the suburbs of Boston. There are foreign students in droves that go to college in Boston and stay because of the opportunities. I’m certainly not asserting any expertise, but I’ve met thousands over the years for which the story holds true.

@Adogslife Yep, we are free to succeed and/or fail. And if we fail it's easy enough to either pick up the pieces or sweep them under the nearest rug and try again.

What I tend to think of after working with a couple of Iranian refugees were hired by a company I worked at. Getting to know them and telling me their stories. And this holds more true in many middle East areas.
Americans don't live under the barrage of daily rebel gunfire and fighting or experience fighter jets missiles cannon shells flying over head. Kids aren't being kids riding their bikes down the town streets delivering the latest news paper with this going on and excepting it as just another day.
Edit: I failed to mention this was during the hostage crisis era.

I love America,it's home.
I wish we were not so divided.
I guess, it's if we don't like something we have a chance at changing it,when people become brave enough to speak up.

Having SO much freedom that we can actually take it for granted! Expecting it! DEMANDING it...because it is written into our laws. AND...this is the best part...being SO darned free that we can fight our own government when it goes astray. (Using entirely legal methods, and the voting booth, of course!).

@Thinkerbell But, I think we all noticed that he was voted out of office...and the American people SPOKE.

Yes. The Dems and their complicit media kept up the pretense too long, and it backfired on them mightily.

@Thinkerbell Amen. It surely did. It's going to be at least a decade before many people trust them again.

I'm not American but when they send their military somewhere, I'm sure they have containers full of everything they need just waiting to deploy because when they arrive and once it's set up it's a fully functioning camp. Compare that to the UK and every detachment is as if they've never been anywhere before; what we needed one bed per person? Moronic and yet the people who could deal with it are there just not utilised. Anyway US military detachments - organised.

The sheer diversity within our nation. We have so many distinct biomes and environments. And so many cultural areas. You can experience most of the world in some fashion without ever having to leave the country. Especially true if you count US Territories and Commonwealths.

My freedom.
KarenKC · 56-60, F
@HowtoDestroyAngels How much freedom do you have under Trump's regime?
Nimbus · M
@HowtoDestroyAngels Good observation 👍
HowtoDestroyAngels · 46-50, M
@KarenKC I have freedom in my heart, that's all I need. I don't trust Trump, don't follow him, didn't vote for him. I have freedom from within.
KarenKC · 56-60, F
I'm not American so I wouldn't know.
