@AbbeyRhode Free healthcare in the United States? Tell me where cause I wanna go there. As someone who works in healthcare, people under Medicaid still have to pay. The copays are lowered but nothing is free. Not even for immigrants.
MartinII · 70-79, M
@AbbeyRhode Same with the UK.
TexChik · F
Democrats with pockets full of our tax dollars
Nimbus · M
@TexChik Yea, I heard that, kinda strange!
TexChik · F
@Nimbus Their idea of democracy. Violate federal law to usher in the end of our constitutional republic.
The generous portion sizes. 👍

Nimbus · M
@OlderSometimesWiser Well, everyone understands now! :)
@OlderSometimesWiser That looks tasty!!😋
@OlderSometimesWiser please marry me as to speed up my immigration status 😋
Matt85 · 36-40, M
They are attracted to developed countries. Who can blame them.
Nimbus · M
@Matt85 Sounds a reasonable concept 👍
MartinII · 70-79, M
@Matt85 Though the US would get most, having lots of acres!
swirlie · 31-35, F
@MartinII
Canada would actually get most because Canada is a bigger country than the USA.
Morvoren · F
The laziness of the natives means there’s guaranteed employment in certain industries.
Morvoren · F
@NativePortlander1970 I simply meant there’s an abundance of work Americans se as beneath them that hard working immigrants will always keep the cogs turning.
@Morvoren Please find a different phrase for the future.

Tax and spend Demi- rats !
Nimbus · M
@DDaverde Fair point 👍
Ontheroad · M
Depends upon the immigrant. Many reasons... for some it's the opportunities for higher education, especially in the medical field, tech, etc., others it's job opportunities, others it's the family is already here and still others, it's because they can get here... that's mostly those from south of the border.
Nimbus · M
@Ontheroad Comprehensive answer 👍
Ontheroad · M
@Nimbus The recent mess over immigration is due to our Congress not acting... much has changed in recent years in the global immigration picture, and our Congress has failed to keep up with the changes and get our legislation in line with what is going on around the world.

Just recently a bipartisan group got together and passed a bipartisan bill through The House, but Trump got the Republicans in the Senate to block it... he didn't want anything good to happen so he could point fingers and get more votes.

Immigration, short of a declared national emergency, should not be handled by any president... this is the responsibility of Congress and they are the ones we need to hold responsible for the current mess.
It's a Western country and it's awesome!

@Nimbus People leave their countries of origin to improve their lives. So, yes.
Anniedlr · 26-30, F
The delusion that they will have a better future in the USA
@Anniedlr I think alot of that is because American media is everywhere. I remember reading somewhere that Friends was a popular show in the Gaza Strip a few years ago.

The only reason why I bring this up is because even in some of the worst places on earth people grow up being shown a USA where you can live in Manhattan and drink coffee all day.
Nimbus · M
@Anniedlr Would Brits be better off there?
@Nimbus no. I know personally several Brits who have lived in the US and Canada and it seems like the only real perk is on this side of the pond the government gets a smaller cut of your estate when you eventually kick the bucket.
Iwillwait · M
Freedom, and for some it's their directive from their superiors to do so.
Nimbus · M
@Iwillwait Directive from their superiors?
How so?
As someone who has worked jobs where I often ended up with people who started as refugees it is not that complex in alot of cases.

Sometimes "not a warzone" and perceived opportunities. Whether those opportunities are real or not is another matter.

This applies in the US and here in Canada too.

America's broadly advertised perception of itself as being the center of the universe which provides health, wealth and prosperity for all who live there.
swirlie · 31-35, F
@NativePortlander1970
..and what's the excuse you offer for all those otherwise 'White folk' who were born into 'White' families within the continental borders of the USA?

Why are they not wealthy for the most part?

Why do they not have health care for the most part?

Why is every American not highly educated like Koreans are in Korea?

Why does the vast majority of America not have a strong work ethic like Europeans and Asians do, yet despise ALL immigrants who come into America who show them what a strong work ethic actually means?

Why do White Americans born in the USA have to be shown how to be 'American' by foreign immigrants whom are not even welcome in your land?

@NativePortlander1970
I still have a soft spot in my heart for White American males, if that offers any consolation....
Usually far better opportunities than their own countries. For example, Vivek Ramaswamy's parents immigrated from India to here, practically penniless, now Vivek is worth tens of billions of US dollars and a sucessful pharmaceutical executive.

@Adrift I had a Vietnamese woman Friend/coworker in the mid 90's, she sent $200 a month to her family back home, to them that would be like we got $20,000 a month.
