illegal drugs, but stress is a big factor.
In the blink of an eye, they're older now,
A lifetime compressed into a single frown.
What instantly ages someone, you ask?
It's more than just years, it's a sorrowful task.

Stress, like a weight upon shoulders bent low,
Each burden it carries, it surely will show.
The weight of the world, a heavy toll to pay,
A face once youthful, now lined in dismay.

Grief, a relentless, unyielding thief,
Stealing the light, leaving only grief.
The loss of a loved one, a piece torn away,
Leaving the heart heavy, the spirit in dismay.

Injustice and struggle, etched into skin,
A life lived in hardship, where does one begin?
From the toll of hard labor to the scars of the fight,
Each wrinkle a story of enduring plight.

Addiction and vices, they hasten the pace,
Leaving behind a hollow, worn-out face.
From drugs to alcohol, they take their toll,
Leaving behind a shell, an empty soul.

And in the eyes of a parent, a painful sight,
Watching their children grow up overnight.
The worry, the fear, the sleepless nights,
Aging them faster, dimming their lights.

Negativity, hatred, they age the soul,
Leaving behind a shadow, an empty hole.
For what instantly ages someone, you see,
Is more than just time, it's the burdens we carry.

A bad attitude. Or moaning about trivial things. Losing weight too fast and too much. Or having chronic illnesses. Sometimes meds can add to that.
War.

@Lilyb My oldest sisters hair turned white all at once when she was in her late 30’s due to stress. Not even a little bit gradual about it. She was under a lot of stress. Her husband couldn’t keep a job and she was supporting 4 people

intense sun exposure
serious illness
losing too much weight in a short period of time
a very traumatic experience
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@CrazyMusicLover Sunbathing to get a dark tan, smoking cigarettes and alcohol all at once multiplies the effects, not to mention eating a crappy diet. I worked with a very vain young woman, so proud of her tan and figure. By the time she was in her late 40’s she was wrinkled up and aging badly.

Teenagers - if you’re a parent.
@Lostpoet This was actually the last photo of him.He was 56. An old 56. An old, tired 56.
Lostpoet · M
@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays He does look a lot older than 56, but most people back then looked old. Lincoln was a good person though it's too bad they killed him.
@Lostpoet I think it was the old fashioned Polaroids. They made people look old. Then the Brownie came along. Changed the way we look at people. 🤣
