I’ve been doing it for over five years and absolutely love it! I feel fantastic, have great energy throughout the day (no more afternoon slump); my skin is glowing; I’ve lost 50 lbs, and I’m no longer pre-diabetic.
I followed the advice by Gin Stephens in Delay Don’t Deny; Fast, Feast, Repeat, and her podcast. She did the research and made the science behind it easy to understand.

I don’t eat after 7 pm. I think that’s kind of like intermittent fasting.
And the next day, I won’t eat until I’m hungry which could be anywhere between 8 AM and 1 PM

@Jenny1234 when you put it that way, almost everyone does some intermittent fasting.

@Roundandroundwego I think you’re right

I do intermittent fasting, although I vary according to my moon cycle.
I believe the biggest benefit of IF is the way our bodies produce and use insulin. Eating just twice a day (or less) with long windows of fasting in between ensures our bodies do not keep producing insulin and uses up the energy from our food intake efficiently. This keeps our bodies in a state of insulin sensitivity. The opposite of insulin sensitivity is insulin resistance which is the underlying cause of so many diseases as well as obesity.

Dad liked thin, very very thin Ladies and put me on such a diet. No food all day. Eight hundred calories from dinner, never eat more. Whole days passed without dinner at times.
My heart would jump and flutter often, there was heartburn and pain in my stomach, I was jealous of the other kids who could eat and freezing cold in elementary school. Dad said I did well.

I don't recommend it, in regards for long term weight management purposes
It could potential stall your metabolism

@Ferric67 I haven’t had that issue. I think ultimately, you have to find what works for your body, and intermittent fasting definitely works for mine.
Ferric67 · M
@ChampagneOnIce that's good, I'm assuming that you are habitually calorically responsible with your food intake. It's the people who yoyo their caloric intake that reverse their metabolism when they fast.
ChampagneOnIce · 51-55, F
@Ferric67 I eat a healthy, balanced meal, so yes, making sure I get the nutrients I need.

It gives your digestive system a break...and your body doesn't expect/crave food once it acclimates.

Not intentionally. I think there's a value in it for a short amount of time. I don't recommend it as a diet.

I work 12/14 hr shifts and find it impossible to do.

I do it most days. I don't usually eat until around 11 o'clock but I'll have a cup of black coffee in the morning to get my liver moving.
