It takes a special talent to fail the college I went to. Like being kicked out due to not attending PE/sport classes like one of my schoolmates. 😂

Yes: not in full-time education although I did attend the local Technical College on day-release when an apprentice.

Many years later I took two, national standard school Mathematics courses in evening-classes as an adult-student, for work reasons. Both culminated with the normal examinations.

I passed the first, at GCSE level, easily.

The second was GCE 'A/S' Level. I forget quite what it stands for, but our tutor explained this has roughly half the volume of contents, but the same level of difficulty, as the full 'Advanced Level' course).

Failed dismally. I think I managed about two questions completely. The examination results certificate read "U" , for "Ungraded"!

I did not try to repeat the course.

.......

I felt very sorry for one poor chap. He arrived for an examination in the same room as the A/S Exam, only to find he was there on the wrong day. Which might not have mattered if his intended exam had not been in the previous week....

I had classes I was not doing well in and dropped them early in the semester. The core classes I schedule two easy with one hard one to avoid the extra stress.

I always went from probation to final probation to extended final probation then back to final probation and probation, over and over. Took me 3 and 1/2 years to graduate and I went every summer. The only reason I went was to avoid certain death in Vietnam. My English Lit degree was great for working in restaurants and retail. I hated every moment I ever spent in a classroom.

I got a C on a calculus test but 70% of the class failed it so I didn't beat myself up too much about it
Jlhzfromep · M
@ArishMell it was multiple topics from algebra, trigonometry, calculus, statistical, and the math team did a little of everything
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Jlhzfromep I see. Thankyou.

One topic in my school maths syllabus was Pure, or Euclidean, Geometry. Examining the properties of non-dimensioned plane figures rather than solving numerical problems with them, I wonder if this is still taught anywhere?
Jlhzfromep · M
@ArishMell best of luck with your courses. I am sure those are still taught in one form or in colleges around the world

I scored a 67 on my first biochemistry exam, but ultimately earned an A in the class and on the final. That was the coming-to-Jesus moment for me academically because I thought I had just ruined my chances of getting into medical school. It scared the crap out me!
BlackPetals · 18-21, F
We'll see. Veterinarian School next month. Nervous but confident.
I flunked out and joined the army. Then I went back and finished the degree. Now I am working on a second degree.
