What did you do today?

I went to the dentist. Got an emergency appointment shortly after calling them this morning.

Did you know the numbing shots one gets at the dentist don't numb infected areas?
Also, those shots are the only type of pain relief we get at the dentist here in Norway.

So, anyway... I had an infected (roots AND an abcess on the gums) tooth removed today and got some sutures to close up the wound after.
I was already missing the other tooth needed to be able to chew with it, so an expensive root canal wasn't worth it.

Also, I now only have 21 teeth left, but my mouth is so small it's hardly noticeable 😅

That's sounds like a busy day and a memory you want faded.
Yeah we have the same methods for dental anesthesia here. They put to sleep your whole cheek, neck but the nerves they poke around in are still very much awake 🫨 I once requested two shots and it didn't help.

@greensnacks not the worst dentist appointment I ever had. Maybe top 4 tho 😅 And I got 4 shots this time (my mouth always requires 2 for some reason)

@thepeculiarpanda My mom is so manipulative, mean, and ignorant, on top of having borderline personality disorder (which she uses as an excuse every chance she gets) that my oldest sister and I actually hope she'll be part of the "self deaths caused by borderline PD" statistics.

Horrible thing to say about ones own mom, I know, but that doesn't chance the fact we've reached that point.

@TheRealBarbossa That's definitely not a good combo. 😕 How often do you have to interact with her in person?

Mine was a narcissist who was physically abusive in my childhood and then switched to emotional abuse when I was too old to spank anymore. She ended up causing her own death by thinking she knew more than the doctors did.

Read some of your comments here and was just wondering if dental implants are a possibility. Waaaay better than dentures. They were a lifesaver for my mom. They are unfortunately very expensive in the US but not sure how much they would be in Norway.

@OlderSometimesWiser Norway isn't exactly known for being cheap. But a lot of people save up about 10k usd and travel abroad to fix or replace their teeth once and for all. I think they go to Thailand or the Philipines or something like that.

Downside is; all the teeth are shaped after the perfect hollywood smile with perfectly square teeth, so it looks awful.

@TheRealBarbossa For some reason I thought it might be part of your universal healthcare system. But I guess sometimes you do get what you pay for, my mom’s implants looked great, totally natural.
