Sugary trap with hardly any similarity to fruit, healthy or otherwise.

FreddieUK · 70-79, M
i used to eat low sugar jams and marmalade and then discovered that the sorbitol used instead of sugar was doing me no good, and possibly worse. Now I stick to high fruit jams, where most of the sugars are natural and don't eat it so often. I think it's the refined sugar that gets us Type 2s.

@peterlee Not for me it doesn't, but you're right that vigorous exercise is proven to help.

@FreddieUK I love jam but have it very rarely nowadays because of my diabetes.

Depends on how it was made. You really don't have to put sugar in jam. In fact my mother never did when she made her own. It does require a gel though. Which the gel is actually good for you as well.

The sugar is in the fruit anyway. They store stuff only adds more.
I really like jam , like, jam on fresh bread was a real treat.
Since my sugar went up I've stayed off it.

I stopped eating it, and stopped eating toast. Giant carbs and sugar with both. BUT...Polaner makes some nice sugar free jams and jellies.

It's basically beery flavored sugar that is heated to softball stage. The vitamins are long gone by that point. One is probably better off making an uncooked "compote" of crushed ripe fruit with honey or maple syrup but it will not last very long.

Yes to both lol.... Though I think the sugary trap wins out ;)
I like it on toast every now and then
