I'm struggling big time with my diet . I'm 43 .

Any tips. It's mainly sugar that's where my trigger is .
Once I eat on surgery thing I'd eat more on a daily basis .
I'm not over weight but age my age I have to watch my diet . I'm all or nothing .

[center]eat a more balanced diet. Protein, fruits, veggies, healthy carbs. I know that for me, when I actually eat properly, I don't crave sweets as much.
I also think having something slightly sweet in the morning helps. Like for example a protein shake with breakfast or fruit for a morning snack.

Another tip would be to simply not buy sweets.
Then they aren't in the house for you to binge on

Try the No White Diet. That's what my doctor put me on. I've lost a dress size and about 20 lbs since last June. It's slow, but very effective. I eat fruit cups when I want something sweet, and I have a sugar free pumpkin apple walnut custard in the oven right now, made with Splenda.

I also made a big crock pot full of baked beans, and this time added a cup of Splenda, and they taste just like store bought baked beans. ☺️

ALSO, talk to Shecallsmecrushdaddy. He has had some great success.

@4meAndyou what I'm afraid of is the withdrawals I'll get from the sugar

@4meAndyou Sounds practical. I don't know why Americans put sugar in everything. I get many recipes from American sites and always leave the sugar out, and the outcome is fine.

Eat lots of fresh vegetables, lentils. Fermented foods and drinks. Some healthy grains. etc.
Eat fresh fruit or Use honey as a sweetener if you really need it

Don't buy sweets, watch the labels on bread, yogurt, and all kinds of things etc for amounts of sugar. If you live in America they add sugar like crazy. It's pretty bad.

Drink water and unsweetened coffee and tea.

I cut sugar when I was in Uni and made an effort to eat really healthy. Eventually you stop craving or even wanting to eat sweets. And most sweet things honestly taste too sweet when you do try it and you don't eat more then a couple bites.

If you rarely eat sweet things then it makes it more special when you do.

@riseofthemachine I'm not a nutritionist, so I feel woefully unprepared to suggest what you personally should do for what you need.

I never really replaced anything. I just cut out anything with loads of sugar. I ended up eating lots more of fresh veggies and fresh fruit. And lots of water.

And when I'm depressed, I tend to go for salty or carbs rather then sweet anyway...so idk. But I also used to keep some fresh fruit as a pick me up snack. Since fruit has sugar.

@shakemeup Thanks you .
Come here . You never get the diet fully right sure you wouldn't it .
Somebody told and this is anything .
If you give up everything to quick you end up breaking out on them all

@riseofthemachine some people go more cold turkey and are successful. I've known several people who have made diet changes, and quit addictions this way. And some people go slower and step by step and are successful that way. Nothing wrong with either. I think it has to do with your personality.

I do better just having a hard limit when it comes to self control. Easier to say no when you are always consistent. Less sugar keeps alcohol cravings a bit more stable too, I've found.

Eating sugar increases hunger hormones so you crave it more & more. Plus it can mess with thyroid function not to mention the empty calories.

Switch to natural sweets in fruits and take a table spoon full of apple cider vinegar with a large cup of water
