We know, and we also know he's just talking out of the side of his neck again. He successfully insulted everyone in America, including MAGA, and he was still voted into office. He can't invade Poland like Hitler did, so he's decided to Invade Canada with insults intead, because that's the best he can do. 😅

Nor should they want to. There are so many ways in which they’re doing better than the U.S. (better healthcare, less gun violence just to name a couple). We should be trying to emulate you.
Reminds me of when Trump was saying only people from countries like Norway should be allowed to emigrate here—why would anyone lucky enough to live in Norway want to come here ? 😳

@bijouxbroussard We don’t pay anything…but its not free. We are taxed heavily.
The money has to come from somewhere right? On average, the cost of healthcare is $5,000 per person per year. If the average person lives to be 80 yrs old…thats $400,000 every canadian will pay in taxes for healthcare thru their lifetime. (Today’s dollars).
How much does the average person from your country pay for healthcare?

@LunarOrbit Depends on the state, but I’ve seen quotes of $9615 annually for young adults, up $25,000 for seniors per person. And btw, this is with coverage, so it depends on the plan now.
I personally have paid $5,000 in a year because of the $2500 deductible that I had to exhaust first on one plan. I saw a bill for a hospital stay that was necessary to save my life in 2008; it was $350,000 but with healthcare coverage I only paid $2,000. People without coverage go to the Emergency Room, they are often turned away or sent to hospitals that serve the indigent.
A National healthcare service would save so many lives here, but some people dismiss it as "socialist". Even the ACA, which allowed many people in my state to afford healthcare coverage for the first time, was disabled because the subsequent administration disliked the president who had signed it into being more than they cared about the health of the American people.
Your system may not work perfectly but you’re the first Canadian I’ve seen who dislikes it. Here, "your money or your life" is real.

I did see an interesting perspective explored yesterday that part of the impetus for this particular embarrassment could be due to the increasing numbers of Americans looking to Canada as a possible escape route. It is consistent with the authoritarian playbook to aim to quell the hope of the people. If we feel we can’t escape him, maybe we’ll accept our fate with more resignation. I don’t think it’s the only contributor, but I imagine his puppeteers would appreciate that side effect. I find it hard to believe you truly need to worry about this (yet), but I understand completely being offended by the unprofessionalism and disrespect. I’m embarrassed for my country. 🫂
CestManan · 46-50, F
@JimboSaturn Canadians are good people, but I do not know why America would want Canada to be one of our states. It is kind of like when we are good friends with a neighbor, that doesn't mean we want to merge properties and lives.
@JustNik With his "Eating cats and dogs" statement, that along with the "your son goes to school a boy and comes home a girl" BS, he is basically talking like a six year old.
For international travel, hopefully it doesn't get outlawed. Eventually some of us would like to visit other nations.
Scary thing, didn't Hitler also want to take over several nations? We see how that went.

I can't see the Republicans (whom are currently in control) wanting to add Canada, it would swing everything to be more liberal.
Heck, the Republicans don't even want Puerto Rico to become a state for the same reasons, which ironically it's supposedly the Conservative Republicans in Puerto Rico that have been pushing for the vote to become the 51st state.

@Musicman He said it directly to Trudeau. You can't blame the "media." Sure, it was meant as a joke. But many of us think it was the kind of joke that is unbecoming of a US President speaking to an ally. Then again, much of the filth spewing out of his mouth is unbecoming of a US President, so what else is new?

The US tried twice to take Canada by force, in the 1770's and around 1812.
Rejected and ejected!
And even if the English speakers in Canada really wanted to join the US, the Qubecois would declare independence!

The early onset of dementia is slightly different than Attention Deficit Syndrome in it's presentation and subsequent diagnosis. ADS is a mental disorder that one acquires genetically, whereas vascular dementia is a deterioration of the receptors in the brain which transfer information, resembling a broken wire that is short-circuiting and arcing.

We must keep something in mind about Canada. Almost 100% of all wheat that is grown in Canada is sent by ocean freighter to Russia every year, not the USA, which means that despite the war in Ukraine and Canada's Allied relationship with NATO in that region, Canada still maintains Trade relations with Russia every year as a food supplier, which is why Justin Trudeau has got Putin on the speed-dial list of his cellphone.
I should also point out that Canada is the only western Nation who has Landing Rights in Moscow for commercial flights to land which Canada's National Airline has been exercising since 1968 with Russia, not to forget mentioning that Russia's National Airline called 'Aeroflot' lands in Toronto once a week and has since 1968 and the entire crew stays downtown in a Toronto hotel for their 24 hour layover every single week, without armed guards.
That reciprocal landing rights agreement between Canada and Russia has never stopped, though Aeroflot now lands at Montreal's Mirabel International Airport since the war in Ukraine started, to be less visible to passing motorists with it's airplane parked at the gate because Mirabel is located way the hell north of Montreal in the middle of a Quebec lumberjack's bush.
Donald Trump can impose tariffs on Canadian goods entering the USA if he wants to, but I'm here to tell you that the US marketplace is not the only game in town, nor has it ever been.
So, for all of us here who bit*ch from either side of the 49th Parallel, just relax! Trump is pushing 80, yet if he tries to go for a 51st State just for fun, remember that King Charlie would have to agree, the RAF would be put on immediate notice and besides, Putin is still on Justin's speed-dial list if Canada needs a strip club bouncer to get some old, delusional POTUS off our stage! 😂 💃🏼

When Trudeau went to Mara Largo for American Thanksgiving, he took his new Minister of Finance with him, Mister LaBlanc and his wife. The cozy photo we've all seen with Trudeau and Trump sitting close together and laughing with each other was a photo taken of the two when apparently Trudeau suggested to Trump that Canada will make the USA it's "Southern Territory" when Canada buys the US for 10 cents on the dollar after the USA goes into Receivership from defaulting on it's $36Trillion National Debt interest payment next month!
You're quite right, Americans have always been fiercely patriotic and take great offense to any criticism or off-handed jokes made about the USA, unlike Canadians who will joke about 25% of our Navy not being battle-ready if 1 of our 4 Frigates in total, are in a Halifax dry dock for some routine maintenance.
Yet there we are with Trump and Trudeau sitting around at Thanksgiving, joking back and forth about the USA annexing Canada ..or Canada buying the USA when it goes up for auction at 10 cents on the dollar in Canadian funds!
We do not know if there was a backroom deal done that evening between Trump and Trudeau, where it was agreed in principle that NO tariffs would be levied against Canada, in exchange for Trump being able to lie to the world that he's charging Canada 25% in tariffs to make himself look like a hero.
