We must keep something in mind about Canada. Almost 100% of all wheat that is grown in Canada is sent by ocean freighter to Russia every year, not the USA, which means that despite the war in Ukraine and Canada's Allied relationship with NATO in that region, Canada still maintains Trade relations with Russia every year as a food supplier, which is why Justin Trudeau has got Putin on the speed-dial list of his cellphone.
I should also point out that Canada is the only western Nation who has Landing Rights in Moscow for commercial flights to land which Canada's National Airline has been exercising since 1968 with Russia, not to forget mentioning that Russia's National Airline called 'Aeroflot' lands in Toronto once a week and has since 1968 and the entire crew stays downtown in a Toronto hotel for their 24 hour layover every single week, without armed guards.
That reciprocal landing rights agreement between Canada and Russia has never stopped, though Aeroflot now lands at Montreal's Mirabel International Airport since the war in Ukraine started, to be less visible to passing motorists with it's airplane parked at the gate because Mirabel is located way the hell north of Montreal in the middle of a Quebec lumberjack's bush.
Donald Trump can impose tariffs on Canadian goods entering the USA if he wants to, but I'm here to tell you that the US marketplace is not the only game in town, nor has it ever been.
So, for all of us here who bit*ch from either side of the 49th Parallel, just relax! Trump is pushing 80, yet if he tries to go for a 51st State just for fun, remember that King Charlie would have to agree, the RAF would be put on immediate notice and besides, Putin is still on Justin's speed-dial list if Canada needs a strip club bouncer to get some old, delusional POTUS off our stage! 😂 💃🏼

@swirlie But Canada doesn't send wheat to Russia. Russia is the world's largest wheat exporter.

The main destination of Wheat exports from Canada are: China ($1.53B), Japan ($814M), United States ($716M), Indonesia ($613M), and Colombia ($466M).

Yes it does! Canada sends 'hard wheat' by the shipload to Russia! It's called 'creating a global balance of Trade'. Canada sends crude oil to the USA and in return, the USA sends refined oil products back to Canada! Canada buys crude oil from Venezuela and in return, Canada sends refined sweet crude oil products like motor oil, to the eastern United States for their own consumption.

@swirlie So the official breakdown of what Canada does with their wheat exports didn't register? Did you just not look at it? You chose your belief over the truth? Why?
I understand global trade. But crude oil isn't wheat. You said almost 100 percent of Canadian wheat goes to Russia. But Canada doesn't export wheat to Russia. Maybe you read something wrong. It happens. But I'm not sure about doubling down. Just learn and move forward with the truth. Not hard.

@swirlie So despite no evidence you're going to stick with your feelings, huh? OK.
This is the breakdown of every country that imports wheat from Canada. Russia is not on the list but don't take my word for it.
Open it, read it and learn. But saying that something is true despite no evidence? I don't get that.
