I think creating a list is divisive. People will defend to the end. But making people think is a much better exercise. You can't deny your conscience. An you also discover what your values really are.
More so than Vietnam. Vietnam was a proxy war, but it didn’t pretend to be anything else. It was actually one of the times we were most transparent about what we were doing; it was just a failure. Iraq was founded on a deliberate deception. The media and both parties were completely in on it, and many of the American people bought it too.
@ProfessorPlum77 It wasn’t hoax, but the theatre was absurd. Why Clinton? How many Presidents have had affairs or dalliances that have not reached that level of tabloid frenzy?
All of them. That by no means exonerates Bill, but that crucifixion was solely for American salavation. Monica didn’t claim harm. Millions were wasted to let the public know that Bill was getting head.
As an aside, I didn’t vote for Bill. By the same token, I don’t need to be privy to his and Monica’s exploits. And, America certainly didn’t need to pay tens of millions to politicize a blow job.

@badminton Hmm. Why was number one fraud? didn't that lead to the Interstate highway system? I agree with you regarding the 2nd Gulf War. What weapons of mass destruction? They have been telling us since Reagan there are "eleven million" illegals here. That many probably came in during the Biden Administration.
@ProfessorPlum77 In my view, The Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956 turned the country towards a near entirely car-dependent transportation system, which continues to the present day. I believe it would have been much better to have at least equally funded trains. We could have had a first-rate modern high-speed rail system today.
Because of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956 (and again in 1958), we have suffered car- caused pollution, untold number of fatal accidents, the deterioration of our cities and suburbs, and social isolation caused by a car-based lifestyle. I grieve for the fine national train system we could have had if congress had funded trains, and given less to highways.

@ProfessorPlum77 floors don't "pancake" during a "collapse" furthermore if you watch the bursts of smoke from each floor as it fell it was clearly demolished.

@ProfessorPlum77 How is it interesting? Older conservatives of Reagan's and Burger's era outright rejected willy nilly ownership of firearms we see today, remember, the Brady Bill was named after Reagan's press secretary that got permanent brain damage from the assassination attempt in march 1981.
