By persisting in his Ukraine attacks, Putin has caused the destruction of the majority of Russian tanks, greatly damaged the Black Sea fleet, and made Russia a pariah nation who has to go begging for technology newer than the 1980s.
the birthplace of workers' rights.
Nope. DEAD WRONG! Labor organizations began in Europe in the late 1700s and early 1800s. At that time, serfs in Russia were still 'owned' by the big landowners, and would be for decades longer.By the 1810s, the first labour organizations to bring together workers of divergent occupations were formed. Possibly the first such union was the General Union of Trades, also known as the Philanthropic Society, founded in 1818 in Manchester.

It has consistently opposed colonialism
Nope. DEAD WRONG! Russia treated all the iron curtain nations as colonies will minimal autonomy.Putin is godsent.
I am gobsmacked!! Putin is an evil dictator who accumulates $ billions in foreign banks and regularly murders his opposition.By persisting in his Ukraine attacks, Putin has caused the destruction of the majority of Russian tanks, greatly damaged the Black Sea fleet, and made Russia a pariah nation who has to go begging for technology newer than the 1980s.

Russia is the most Christian country on earth at the moment. It is also a voice for sanity. It only 'invaded' eastern Ukraine after it had been betrayed by NATO twice. Its goal was to stop the slaughter of Ukrainians who were being killed by Ukraine. The death sentence was a result of those people in Eastern Ukraine speaking Russian and not Ukrainian. I have known a number of Russians over the years and found them all to be straight up guys. Now I have gotten to know a large number of Ukrainians. Strangely the Ukrainians that I have met are not supportive of Ukraine. They are not fans of Russia but they do not support Ukraine. I have seen reports that there are a million Ukrainians living in Canada. A number I can believe. There are few stores or diners I go to that I don't hear someone speaking Ukrainian. I have personally helped several families from Ukraine get settled in Canada.

@BritishFailedAesthetic I have lots of contacts in both Russia and Ukraine. I have no idea who you rely on for information but my Russian friends are Baptists. My Ukrainian friends are Pentecostal.
@hippyjoe1955
So then, ask them, they were viewed as a threat by Putin's policy.

@BritishFailedAesthetic According to them there is no problem being Baptist in Russia. They have no desire to move or any danger to them. The Ukrainian Pentecostals and their families are now living in Canada.

My opinion on Russia is not synonymous with their Leadership. I feel bad for the Russian people, and hope their Leadership changes.

I am from Russia, from near Sochi. I don't agree with countries invading other countries. Every country should keep to its borders, and they shouldn't interfere with affairs abroad. Why do we keep killing one another? Aren't other people's lives as important as ours? US has been interfering in Ukraine for a long time. They started a revolution in 2004 and now they are funding a war that has killed thousands of people, using American taxpayers' money to do so.

@Justice4All Ukraine chose not to implement the Minsk Agreement. I don't believe they ever had any intention of implementing it. It has been violated in several ways. What was the point of it?
"Russians might believe Ukrainians will eventually distance themselves from the West and build ties with Russia, but that is unlikely. There is too much hatred in Ukraine."
The east is still split, with many Ukrainians rejecting the West. In the rest of the country, they are either hostile or indifferent. Most crucially, the US has infiltrated its leadership. I don't think this war is worth it, but I can understand the reasons for it. US wants everything to go their way, for all countries to do what they want. They do not want a Russia that resists this, and they want to use Ukraine for all it has.

It should be reduced in size to that of denmark and have virtually no army ever again.

Didn’t america piss their pants and want to start a war when the soviets wanted to load Cuba with bases and nukes?
But it’s totally different for america and nato to stack russias border huh?

A proud long-suffering people with criminal leadership, mired in 1980s technology. A gas station with nukes.
@ElwoodBlues They should have made Putin pose like the garage attendant on Aerosmith's "A little south of sanity" 😅

Kids of my generation were fed a steady diet of the "Soviet evil empire" narrative, but things have changed substantially since the cold war days. A little older and wiser me realizes that neither side is innocent in this conflict. There is history of bad blood as Stalin starved about 4 million Ukrainians in the Holomodor in an effort to quell the country's nationalism. And yet, NATO's slow, but steady advancement in eastern Europe, along with the Obama administration installing a western gov't in Ukraine in 2014 is obviously viewed by Russia as a threat to their sovereignty.
The US didn't exactly roll over when the Soviets tried sending nukes to Cubs.
Politics aside, the few Russian people I've met in life are wonderful.

Id be curious to know how Putin keeps selling this to his own.
I mean loss of life there must have an effect on public support...even if he doesn't care what they think

If Ukraine doesn’t get more help especially from the US, other countries will also fall and possibly WW3!
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Strictmichael75 If other European countries get attacked it's essentially WW3 because NATO will get involved.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Their government is cancer that should be removed.

Putin is praying for Trump and hge loves MTG.,

I am kind of neutral with this issue.Though the west tries to sell Ukraine as innocent and victim,I don't buy that.
My concern is all for the people of both countries and the soldiers at war(while those guys commanding them are living in luxurious rooms when their soldiers are dying).

nato must get involved sooner or later and push back russia so we can have peace negotiations... or this could literally end in a nuclear desaster

It's a very big country with a very turbulent history involving many other nations one of which is Ukraine.

A vast country, mostly cold, empty, and full of bears. I hear it does have a nice train ride though.
