A Christian's perspective in Ukraine

“Thousands of people gathered at the Kiev Caves Monastery yesterday to show support for the monks who have been ordered to leave by the monastery by Zelensky, one of the holiest shrines of the Russian Orthodox Church, where the Church has been for over 1,000 years. It is the first monastery of the Russian Church. The monks have stated that they will not leave. Our government is supporting this criminal, who has also bombed and killed 1000’s of people in the Donbass, who refuse to go along with his government, which was imposed on Ukraine by the West. They are attempting the same thing in Georgia now,” quoted an American priest of the Russian Orthodox Church,

Much of the confused fog surrounding this event revolves around mistakenly continuing Cold War categories. During the Cold War, the West considered itself the seat of moral Christian heritage and the Soviets ("Ruskies") were the godless Marxist. Now those categories have almost entirely reversed. Russia now considers itself the seat of Christian morality and WE are the "woke" godless Marxists.

Consider how the U.S. fought the war in Vietnam to "stop the spread of communism," and that was half a world away. Now Russia sees the spread of Western madness happening on their own border. None in the American media seem willing to admit that Russia might have a case NOT to allow such threats as the "woke" West (anti-biology, anti-Christian, anti-energy, anti-family, etc.) to fester right on their doorstep.

One does not have to declare Putin a "good guy" to admit that...it's not obvious at all that the U.S.-Ukraine, money-laundering, "woke" culture collapse en masse is the "good guy" either. On the contrary, it may be a situation of a "complicated guy" (Russia) vs a "worse guy" (the "woke" West).
@MountainMonk89 Well said. NATO's originally stated objective was containing the spread of the USSR. But NATO's steady advancement into eastern Europe tells a different story. The 2014 coup engineered by the Obama administration was the line in the sand crossed.

Have people forgotten how the US responded to the Bay of Pigs? If Russia was advancing their ideology through South and Central America, and then installed a Soviet puppet gov't in Mexico, how would the US respond?

Those monks were official defrocked for abuse of power.

@WintaTheAngle Please get your story straight. You are talking about Roman Catholic monks and not Russian Orthodox monk nor Ukrainian Orthodox monks. This has nothing to do with closing the Kieve Caves Monastery.
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
@hippyjoe1955 The statement I read said I was people from that monastery who were investigated by the police.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@WintaTheAngle The monks defrocked by the pope are Roman Catholic. The monks the Ukrainian state (police) are after are Russian Orthodox. The two are not related and the police investigation is little more than religious persecution. There is no evidence that the monks in the Kiev Caves were engaged in political activities. There is huge evidence that Ukraine is persecuting ethnic Russians in Ukraine.
should anybody be surprised by the actions of that puppet. he just doin what his masters have told him to do.

Further confirmation that Christians are the problem when they meddle in national security.

@Spotpot This war was started by the US and Ukraine. Ukraine has been shelling ethnic Russian towns and cities in Ukraine for almost 10 years. Russia tried to get Ukraine/US to stop that and to get the US to get its bioweapons labs out of Ukraine with the Minsk accords. Everyone signed the accords and they were ratified by the UN Security Council. The West, US, Germany, France, UK etc all reneged on those accords BEFORE Russia decided to rescue the people of Eastern Ukraine. The US has been trying to start a war with Russia since the fall of the Soviet Union and have been trying to get rid of Putin since he started to turn the Russian economy around. The US is the bad actor in this and had the US not been promoting the nazis in Ukraine there would be no war in Ukraine.
Spotpot · 41-45, M
@hippyjoe1955 Putin invaded Ukraine not the US it all up to Putin.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Spotpot Your ignorance of the subject is awe inspiring. Ukraine had killed 16,000 Ukrainians of Russian descent in the Donbas region before Putin invaded. Russia tried to avoid invading by getting the nations to sign the Minsk accord. Ukraine, the US UK France Germany all signed the accord in bad faith and so Russia learned that the west's promises are not worth the paper they are written on. Do so research before you spew the US propaganda. You look foolish doing so.
all throughout history.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout So did you know that
slava ukraninie
is the Ukrainian equivalent of Seig Heil or maybe Heil Hitler?
Convivial · 26-30, F
This is the same Russian orthodox church that condones Russian invasion of Ukraine and killing Ukrainian people and stealing their children... That Russian orthodox church?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Convivial As opposed the other Orthodox church that condones the slaughter of ethnic Russians in the Donbas? You know the Ukrainian Orthodox Church? Son get serious. You have no basis for your accusation. The facts are the Christians in Ukraine are being persecuted seemingly for their religious affiliation.
Spotpot · 41-45, M
Putins very unchristian war.
Spotpot · 41-45, M
@hippyjoe1955 War is something christans alwaysed liked and Putin is a true christian in that regard so christians should support him and some do.
Spotpot · 41-45, M
@hippyjoe1955 It has nothing to do with today the Poles support Ukriane strongly and they were Banderas victims.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Spotpot It has everything to do with Banderas. The Ukrainians were victims of the German Nazis in WWII but a number of them adopted the ideas of the Nazis. Of course the same can be said of much of the west. We fought bravely against Nazism only to import it into our own nations. The FACTS are that the intellectual descendents of Banderas were shelling and killing ethnic Russians living in their ancestral lands which through no fault of their own is now Ukraine. This is established fact. This not a point of debate. The Minsk accords were drafted to save those ethic Russians without Russia ever invading. Sadly the US and NATO and Ukraine simply used the Minsk accords to arm Ukraine so it could go to war with Russia. The problem is now that Russia has invaded Ukraine has found out that Russia is a much better warrior than NATO, Thus Ukraine is losing and losing extremely badly at the moment. In a few months the war will be over and Russia will be the victor and the US and NATO will splinter. The US will lose its dominant position in the world as it will be eclipsed by Russia and China. The US's moral and intellectual decay has decreed that it will fail.

@SW-User Why are you judging me when I ask you to make an intelligent comment and not just your run of the mill anti Christian diatribe?

@SW-User I was answering to someone else who seemed to fail to understand that the Catholic Church can not defrock Orthodox monks. In the mean time you show your hatred to all things Christian and you look all the smaller for doing so. Last chance. Post something intelligent or get deleted.
