What are realistic ways to end the ukraine war ?

i mean by now we can pretty much all agree that a military victory of russia isnt gonna happen and even if they should take kiev there is no way the ukraine would surrender.
so that is out of the question...

there is the possibility of russia just genociding all ukraines but if they go that far there will be international intervention... there is already 7 NATO countries that are willing to interdere in the war.

russia just going home and pretending this never happend... well the propaganda is strong and people even doubt the moonlanding.. maybe an option.

russia overthrowing the putin cronies and setting off a civil war in russia... well its an option.

so you see these are 4 scenarios that all dont seem every likely... so anyone got an idea how this can be solved ?
Someone in Putins inner circle taking him out is the best scenario.
But I can see a long stalemate in which the fighting has stopped but the Russians do not leave.....with a UN peacekeeping force moving in.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales I've watched a few programmes on Putin recently and listened to ideas from some of his ex-inner circle. They all point to Putin being obsessed with disloyalty from his current cronies. Let's hope someone amongst them sees sense, but I doubt that. I don't think Kyiv will be taken either.
I just hope Brown & Major push for the Nuremberg-style trial.
@Moonpenny yeah...but you will never get him to it...it only takes one bullet to induce what the public will be told was a fatal heart attack.
The fact thousands of Russians are fleeing their own country too is not getting a lot of publicity.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales Yes, I agree. He would never want to lose face.
There's a lot we're not being told.

Zelenskyy now says he is willing to talk to Putin and to agree Ukraine does not join NATO and remains neutral for security assurances from Russia. One can hope this would be enough face-saving for Putin, but doubtful. He might have to agree to internationally conducted/verified self-determination votes in the Donbas area, which could be a win for Zelenskyy as well -- probably not in territory, but getting rid of a painful and distracting irritation during rebuilding. Plus, what Zelenskyy currently is offering (neutrality/security assurances) sounds too much like what Stalin got from Hitler back in the day.
@Madgirl Well,Russia wouldn’t be one of the parties to the security agreement...hindsight is wonderful but Ukraine giving up their Inherited Soviet nukes was a huge mistake.
You don’t start a war with a nuclear capable country.
Madgirl · 26-30, F
@TheSirfurryanimalWales yeah... lesson learned for north korea here.. never ever ever make any agreement that involves giving up your nuclear weapons...
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@Madgirl
they had this security assurance from russia already... and russia betrayed it
But the Ukraine was trying to join the EU and NATO, which Putin clearly saw as a betrayal on their part. Sort of a kettle, pot thing.

My opinion is, Putin is looking for a way to withdraw troops without losing face.

He will need to claim victory in regards to his pretence to invade - so that would be demilitarisation and "de-nazification" of Ukraine... whatever that means.

If he and Zelenskyy can agree some level of demilitarisation, and an agreement for Ukraine to remain neutral between Russia and NATO, then Putin could feasibly call this a victory back at home.

But to everyone else in the world, he has cemented who he really is for the rest of time; a maniacal war criminal. He has no redeeming qualities.

@SW-User yeah the world wont just stop the embargoes cause russia goes home. there are to many bridges burnt

@Madgirl Agreed - personally I feel we need to maintain these sanctions until Putin is ousted. I have empathy for regular Russian civilians who play no role in what's happening, but we can't pretend like everything is okay when Putin is finished with Ukraine.
I think Russia will win a military victory. They way they conduct war is different to how the west does it.

In Iraq and Afghanistan the west bombed the place into the stone age destroying everything military and civilian a like.

Russia uses what they call the cauldron. Where they surround a place and gradually turn up the heat until the enemy surrenders.

I reckon this all ends with Russia getting a neutral Ukraine and those independent states it created.
Madgirl · 26-30, F
@Ozymandiaz so far russia looses the war military and every day ukraine gets new and better weapons and more manpower while russia wont be able to afford it.

hell germany has delivered those new panzerfaust things that pretty much eat russian tanks for breakfast and they can be fired from inside buildings and even on the move. thats like the perfekt guerilla weapon and russia may have 38000 tanks... but guess who can get 38000 of those weapons...
@Madgirl I don’t believe Ukraine is doing anywhere near as good as the western media are reporting.

We will find out sooner or later though

Russia or China can't exist without Czar , Khan , Emperor , King. Russia needs to be starved or their population will not do anything.
