What are realistic ways to end the ukraine war ?

i mean by now we can pretty much all agree that a military victory of russia isnt gonna happen and even if they should take kiev there is no way the ukraine would surrender.
so that is out of the question...

there is the possibility of russia just genociding all ukraines but if they go that far there will be international intervention... there is already 7 NATO countries that are willing to interdere in the war.

russia just going home and pretending this never happend... well the propaganda is strong and people even doubt the moonlanding.. maybe an option.

russia overthrowing the putin cronies and setting off a civil war in russia... well its an option.

so you see these are 4 scenarios that all dont seem every likely... so anyone got an idea how this can be solved ?

Someone in Putins inner circle taking him out is the best scenario.
But I can see a long stalemate in which the fighting has stopped but the Russians do not leave.....with a UN peacekeeping force moving in.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales yeah a stalemate is what is gonna happen... but how would it end... i mean time is working for ukraine here... russia needs a solution. not just for the embargoes but the actual war machine is costing russia money and there is nothing at all for them to win
@Madgirl As Yulianna said to me if they resist for long enough the Russians will end up going home.
I was agreed with her that Ukraine could not possibly win and they probably won’t but they won’t lose either.
And I expected a quick fall of Kyiv, the removal of Zelensky and a surrender.
But Russia will find a way of spinning it as mission accomplished for the home audience.
And then leave.
Which still leaves the problem of Crimea and Donbas...but that has been going on for 8 years.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales yeah i expected kiev to fall within a week... like russia too and most nato analysts... turns out noone expected that level of incompetence from russias military.

however even with kiev fallen and zelensky murdered it wouldnt stop the war... the invasion was supposed to be the easy part... the occupation is when things get way worse for russia.

would ukraine be willing to surrender donbas and krim though ? i could imagine they would be willing to do that if they get a membership in nato and eu.
@Madgirl they couldn’t possibly occupy a huge country of 48 million most of whom would be resistant to their presence.
There is a reason they have largely left the Western and Central parts of Ukraine alone....that is they simply do not have the manpower to push any further than they have..
I put this on this morning.Says a lot
They won’t surrender Crimea and Donbas but prudence is to return to the situation we had prior to February 24th.
Getting Crimea back is a pipedream but Donbas will get resolved eventually.
But I hope Ukraine do not prolong things by digging in over those areas.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales and when kiev falls they will just transfer seat of gioverment to lviv
@Madgirl I don’t thinkKyiv will fall..unless they start carpet bombing it...and if they had the means they would have done that already.
But the Americans plan to get Zelensky out if Kyiv is falling....for a government in exile.
I did have a thought before it became it became clear that Russia was failing we could end up with East and West Ukraine again as we had barely a century ago. They United before the they succumbed to the might of the Soviet
Union.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales I've watched a few programmes on Putin recently and listened to ideas from some of his ex-inner circle. They all point to Putin being obsessed with disloyalty from his current cronies. Let's hope someone amongst them sees sense, but I doubt that. I don't think Kyiv will be taken either.
I just hope Brown & Major push for the Nuremberg-style trial.
@Moonpenny yeah...but you will never get him to it...it only takes one bullet to induce what the public will be told was a fatal heart attack.
The fact thousands of Russians are fleeing their own country too is not getting a lot of publicity.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales Yes, I agree. He would never want to lose face.
There's a lot we're not being told.
