Palestinian's or Israelites, who do you favor ?

At least Israel gave them a warning to evacuate the building.
I hate that civilians on both sides are getting hurt and wish both groups could peacefully coexist. I can relate to the Palestinians, who are hated, while Israel pretty much has the world on its side. When I hear the arguments for displacing the Palestinians and destroying their homes, I’m reminded of U.S. history.
@bijouxbroussard Palestinians were displaced during the war of independence. But that's not what the current dispute is over. One of Hamas' core demands is a Jew-free Palestine "from the river to the sea." That's not negotiable. Much of what you characterize as Israeli abuses are security measures for self-preservation. Do they go to far? Definitely. But one side at least makes a token effort to spare non-combatants, while the other side deliberately targets them. The events of the past few days should give everyone an idea of what to expect if Israel were to open its borders and allow the Palestinians to move freely. Many of them wouldn't cause any problems, but enough of them would use that as an opportunity to finish what Hitler started.

So we're left with a desperate population in Gaza that sees no option other than causing as much destruction as possible before they're destroyed themselves, and a frustrated population in the West Bank that is looking at a power vacuum as soon as Abbas kicks the bucket.

As for other countries being denounced, what China is doing to the Uyghurs (who happen to be Muslim) goes far beyond anything Israel is doing to the Palestinians, yet you rarely hear it mentioned, and there's certainly no outrage over it.
@LeopoldBloom It sounds like Hamas is the problem, and need to be dealt specifically, but I’m certain it’s more complicated than that. And reportedly Palestinian homes are being destroyed for new settlements where they’re not allowed to live. How is that a security measure ?

As for what’s going on in China, as I said, nobody’s criticizing the people who support the Ukraine for not lobbying for the Uyghurs, as well.
The cynic in me wonders if the latter also have blond hair & blue eyes ? I suspect perhaps they don’t.

You may recall during the Kosovo conflict the U.S. had no problem opening their doors to Muslims who looked like these…
@bijouxbroussard Israel definitely should stop its settlement policy. I'd like to see our military aid used as leverage against that.

People are people I don't prefer either as individuals.

However the state of Israel is illegally occupying Palestinian land and committing endless war crimes and my sympathies lie strongly with the Palestinians.

@MalteseFalconPunch It is amazing how often the left-wing nut-job islamo-nazi marxists pick the wrong side

@MalteseFalconPunch I agree except, Hamas is killing civilians, Israel kills civilians too, and I cannot support any faction that does that.
Scribbles · 31-35, F
I have sympathy for Israel and Palestinians and anybody who lives there who is caught between. There are wrongs on both sides.

I wish peace was a real option. But like many places in the world in which there are many peoples and displaced peoples and homes involved and radical reteroric and much fear...there is rarely much room for peace. Rarely do people care about making room for all people when it's easier to shove each other around or kill. People tend to choose one group of people over the other. Moving forward in any positive way is almost impossible unless a third party becomes more hated and enemies become allies of sorts. :/

I also abhore inhumane treatment of anyone-no matter who does it. It is not ok.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@Scribbles Amazing how so many people are incapable of this sentiment.
Scribbles · 31-35, F
@Bumbles yeah. Peace and making things better for all has to be cultivated.

We're all humans first. Humans who have all the same needs and desires. We can't change the past...but moving forward has to be done with peace, compassion, understanding, and without violence or war or threats.

Of course that is easy of me to say. It's another thing to live in a place of unrest, much less have family and friends massacred or feeling oppressed, or under threat.

Would any other country's leaders react any differently in Gaza's place/shoes, or Israel's place/shoes? Idk...I rather doubt it.

And I fear this will get worse.

I'm neither Jewish nor Islamic.
My entire lifetime this conflict has raged on and in (my) truth it seems this has drifted so far down the extremeist route as to be about anything other than this 'occupied land of our forefathers' nonsense.

THAT description I feel is used as an excuse to bolster support for political parties who have no interest in anything other than consolidating support to ensure their representatives live off the fat of the land while many of those they say they represent get constantly caught in the crossfire of incursions by either side when it suits them.

But, taking innocents hostage is ramping this up to a whole new level !

I did wonder if this was the first Islamic phase of beginning to wipe out Judaism altogether !
Seeing if they could get other Islamic parties to join their jihad and push the issue to a final endgame once and for all !
After all that's an extremists interpretation of their holy book and it may incite the wavering to the cause !

But nobody seems to know whether this is the case or whether it's being considered as merely another bargaining tool for a prisoner exchange.

Either way, it's wrong.
SoLeRiMix · 31-35, M
Neither! Simply because war is never the solution.

However, this conflict had reached its boiling point. Israel's attitude towards Palestinians since 2017 has been ruthless and barbaric. Every day in the news, you hear about innocent Palestinians getting shot by the IDF. This has happened a lot since 2020. Illegal settlements on Palestinian land and unlawful encroachment of the homes of the Palestinians by the IDF have been a common aspect since 2016. Worse, IDF forces shot an innocent press reporter. So, I don't disagree with Palestinians claiming they have had enough. Yes! BB, your Far-Right mentality and vicious moves pushed the Palestinians to pick weapons and seek justice. Things could have been sorted out in a peaceful manner, but BB wants no peace.

BB, Ben-Gvir and Far-Right Supporters, you all will rot in hell!

With the Palestinian people! I hope that they will also get help against Israel, because America sticks its nose in and helps Israel, which has been oppressing and harassing the Palestinian people for years!
pdockal · 56-60, M
NEITHER as that part of the world has been in turmoil for centuries

I feel for the innocent people who get caught up in the hatred and doesn't matter what country they are from
I favor both to be able to live a peaceful life without constant fear of war breaking out . We are humans first .
Bumbles · 51-55, M
The extent to which the left is comfortable with Israeli children being murdered is rather eye opening. Many cheer it or rationalize it to the point where it is de facto support. It’s disturbing to be witnessing.

@Bumbles Glad to hear it.
@Bumbles I haven’t heard of anyone supporting the murder of Israeli children. Where are you seeing this ? 😳
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@bijouxbroussard The protests in New York, for example, defending the Hamas attack, celebrating it, too. Do they say specially “yeah, dead children?” No, they don’t. It’d a distinction without a difference. I have no issue with criticizing Israel, but anything short of condemning the Hamas attack is lending tacit support.

Is that so, though?
I hate terrorists with all my guts. I know how vile they are.
I think too many pro-Palestinian people are romanticizing their cause and forget how fanatical these "militants" are. I have zero empathy for killers and abductors.
But I do have empathy for the civilians who just want to give themselves and their families a decent life. They deserve better than religion-fuelled terrorists to defend them.

Israel is an apartheid state where the Palestinians are ruthlessly exploited and are little more than slaves. This is the wrong way to go about it, but something like this was bound to happen.

I wish the Palestinians luck, and hope the Israeli government will topple with as little bloodshed as possible,
I favor a quick end...with as little loss of life on both sides as possible.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@anythingoes477 We agree on that..The tragedy is a human one in that while individuals can live in harmony and respect, the leadership on both sides doesnt over time and palys the ancient fueds for advantage. And thats not going to stop..Now wjat it about to happen will brew more hatred among both sides as Israeli hostages and Palestinian civilians suffer..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman At some point the reason to hate is generation............and not even relevant anymore.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@anythingoes477 And thats where we are with this. Its a thousand years old and written into both religions and cultures. There will always be individuals who can bridge the gap. But I dont see a genuine solution for all the people..😷
Both sides are terrorists. But the Palestinians are just trying to not be genocided. So that explains their terrorism. Israel on the other hand is just greedy and corrupt.
Eternity · 22-25, M
I don't. I think they should sort out their conflict themselves and everyone else should have never interfered

Now it has turned into a long drawn out mess. Whereas, if we would all have just left them to settle this in the way that they seem to be determined to, it would have been long over and the survivors could have damn near rebuilt by now.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
I support the Palestinian right to self determination and the right of Israel to exist. It's not binary. You don't have to agree with Hamas or the Israeli state to care about civilians.

Hamas is a terrorist organisation, yes, but Israel uses state terror. Israel also armed Azerbaijan to carry out its ethnic cleansing of Armenians last week, so while Israeli civilians have my sympathy, I have no sympathy for the government of Israel.
Palestinian people.

Id like to see the violence stop give ppl their territory and then leave them alone. Simple easy have a timeshare for the hotly disputed strips. The Palestines deserve their territory too.

Israel is God's Chosen land. They're not occupying any land illegally the land that was theirs has been reduced by almost 1/2 due to illegal means and war. I support Isreal.

@Iwillwait according to whom? According to religion? If so, I'd like to know where all this fervour was for Armenian Christians two weeks ago when they had their land taken from them by Azerbaijan.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

It's always nice to get a warning for a controlled demolition.🤣🤣

If one can not tell what propaganda is, then one should be careful not to spread it.

[c=002673]Exactly! That is a lot different than a suicide bomber murdering dozens of innocent women and children.

My problem is once upon a time their tribes were a unified cooperative. Wat happened? Get over it
The good guys
DDonde · 31-35, M
I can't side with either side.
I favor extraterrestrials coming in to be a global peacekeeper since humans are so resistant to evolving into a grown-up species

But I'm tired of everyone acting like Israel is some sort of victim, I'm tired of the US constantly sending aid to US when Israel won't accept the existence of a Palestinian state, considering the world created Israel out of nothing after World War 2 and displaced Palestinians
SamInAZ · 41-45, M
Neither one. Just like Ukraine & Russia.
