do you take vitamins?

and if so do you think they help?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Yes and they do help. I had eczema on my face when I was young after being sick most of the winter with one cold after another. My uncle suggested I take a one-a-day vitamin to help build my immune system up so I wouldn’t keep getting sick and the ezema went away too. I’ve used vitamins for my birds when they start getting listless and ruffled up and it turns them around in a couple of days.
SW-User
@cherokeepatti Yup my health food store has them.. I don't think they are a drugstore brand.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SW-User Medical researchers say that taking a one-a-day vitamin helps preserve the length of telemores, which is a measurement of how quickly we are aging....the shorter the telemores the more we have physically aged.
SW-User
@cherokeepatti and yet on the other hand you hear people saying it's all a scam... best to see for yourself I suppose.
The only vitamin you need (especially in Canada) is vitamin D.. especially if you're a woman.. 5000 to 7000 IU a day.. they're so cheap.. your body will love them..
SW-User
@Majorlatency Wow..okay… I've heard the drops are high potency as opposed to the pills?
@SW-User Don't know about the drops. I would guess they're more expensive. I get the pills from Costco $8.69 for 720 tablets..(two bottles)
SW-User
@Majorlatency ok awesome. thank you
MellyMel22 · F
[c=#BF0080]Sometimes I take Vit D and when I’m consistent with it I know it works cause my Dr tells me and gets mad when my level drops cause she knows I stopped again 😳 [/c]
SW-User
@MellyMel22 yeah Vitamin D is so important... especially during the winter with no sun.
MellyMel22 · F
@SW-User [c=#BF0080]I know, I’m deficient in it. Yet I had a Lifeline test that showed I’m at no risk for things it causes 😳 but I try to remember to take it. [/c]
SW-User
@MellyMel22 probably a good idea...
JustNik · 51-55, F
I take a multi because it does wonders for me. Only one I found that did. I take curcumin and ginger because my joints like to hurt and that stuff is a miracle. Milk thistle gives me a little extra pep.
SW-User
@JustNik cool. thank you
Synyster · 51-55, M

DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
I have chronic joint pain, so started taking glucosamine chondroitin supplements and I immediately noticed a huge difference.
SW-User
@DearAmbellina2113 Wow really.. good to know thanks
Dusty101 · F
I do...
They help prevent colds.
SW-User
@Dusty101 do you take a multi?
Dusty101 · F
@SW-User centrum!
Very multi!
SW-User

nem16 · 36-40, M
Yeah,Lil's I take vitamin B 3 times a day,doc actually said I shouldn't notice much difference if I stopped taking them,but it's fine with me.
nem16 · 36-40, M
@SW-User I've been told I am a prime candidate of anything going around lol..
SW-User
@nem16 😄 might as well enjoy life while we can. 😳 lol
nem16 · 36-40, M
@SW-User right? 😆
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
Not right now. Used to do a multivitamin and B-12. They irritated my stomach. Eating healthier has seemed to do the trick.

My Dr ordered a blood test to check vitamin D levels, just as a routine test so I guess we’ll see. Apparently most people in the northern part of US and Canada are somewhat D deficient due to the climate.
SW-User
@luckranger71 Yup I think we're all deficient especially in winter... thanks:)
SW-User
I dont take them, I'm never ill.
SW-User
@SW-User I don't think anyone is lying, I'm sure they think they help.
SW-User
@SW-User Well... I suppose it's a matter of trying it and deciding for ourselves. :)
SW-User
@SW-User yes, absolutely.
nahright09 · 41-45, M
lol costco multi-vitamin gummy. Adverse reactions from just about every other multi-vitamin i've ever tried. Not sure if it's helping me...don't think it's harming !?!
SW-User
@nahright09 really.. wow. interesting! 🤔
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
I take Fish oil tablets and some other that has Glucosamine, chondrit and turmeric for my painful joints. Plus a glass of Cherry Juice for the pain in my back.. It helps.
SW-User
@Thevy29 yeah I've heard fish oil is good..
gmatthewb · 51-55, M
I stopped taking vitamins years ago. I wanted to see if they were really doing any good at all, turns out they were not.
SW-User
@gmatthewb yeah there's pros and cons.. maybe it depends on the brand?
gmatthewb · 51-55, M
@SW-User I think it more depends upon your diet. Unless you have a medical condition that causes you to have a deficiency of some kind, all the vitamins you need are in the foods we should be eating most of the time. I've been physically very healthy for the past 20+ years since I stopped taking vitamins. Due to my career, I have to get government mandated physicals regularly and have never had any deficiency. But everyone is different, what works for one person, may not work for another.

I take a one a day and a glucosamine chondroitin supplement.

I don't notice a difference while I take them, but I notice it when I stop taking them.
BlueRain · F
Yes I have taken them for 7 years. They do make a difference.
SW-User

Caprice · 41-45, F

Caprice · 41-45, F
Vitamin D and B12 @SW-User
SW-User

Cantsayno · 56-60, M
I take a multi vitamin every day.
Graylight · 51-55, F
While some vitamin supplements have been shown to correct deficiencies, most recent studies show the average multivitamin to be virtually useless. I stopped taking them a couple years ago and have noticed no difference whatsoever.
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M
Yes and definitely Yes
Nimbus · M
Yep and yes..............I think :)
SW-User
I do, and yes!
Zonuss · 41-45, M
No. Just herbal supplements and coconut water. 🙂

MethDozer · M
No, just Vitamin D tablet.
SW-User

@SW-User Had an aunt who was on 24 different prescriptions plus over-the-counter drugs...I don’t want to end up that way.
