No. I’m not a combative person. In fact, it’s been my experience that being respectful and appreciative gets you a lot further in general. I was in the hospital a couple months ago, and I always thanked the nurses and aides who helped me. I had a few of them tell me that they weren’t used to being thanked by patients. It took me back a little to think that what I consider to be the bare minimum actually stood out to them.

Never. I’ve done that type of work and I know the care and patience it requires. So I try really hard not to be impatient even with telemarketers. It takes little effort to say , "I’m sorry this isn’t a good time," and hanging up.
There’s also especially good reason to be extra polite to wait staff or anyone with access to one’s food, and it shouldn’t have to be spelled out. 😳

@bijouxbroussard My brother won't go to restaurants with his friend because he's always super rude to the staff and is afraid for the sanctity of his food
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
No I treat them with respect. Without them we wouldn't even have all the grocery stores, clothing stores, auto parts stores or other services that we rely on. Life would be much harder. I appreciate the service they give weather waiting on my table, taking my money at the grocery store or helping me with a transaction at the bank. It's a true luxury to have so many people to help you.

No I do not typically yell at customer service workers the only ones I get frustrated with are the ones that talk the company line even though the company might be in the wrong and try to do nothing to straighten it out or the ones that act like it comes out of their own pocket to fix the mistake. Now those people I get irritated with. But other than that customer service workers they go out of their way to be helpful I always give them a Kudos call in a good review
HiFiRaver · 18-21, M
No, definitely not. My boyfriend worked at Starbucks and he has some stories...I'm much more sympathetic to customer service workers. If they're deliberately being rude that's different, but most are not.

some do their jobs differently doing the same job for the same company...true story and i'll try and keep it short....i once needed the charges reversed on a freight bill. i had accidentally marked the shipment prepaid when it should have gone collect. but the customer service agent told me i had to get the consignee to email them to have them reverse it. but that company was huge and trying to find the right person to do that would be next to impossible...so we ate the freight,,,well dummy me did it again 🙄...but i decided to play a different a different angle. the head office of that freight company was located in a province i used to live in many years ago. so before i told them my issue i "schmoozed" with them a little and talked about my time living there...we talked sports, weather, school etc....by the end of it that customer service agent had no problem reversing the charges.
Never! I'm always polite to them because I know other people are rude to them. Being polite goes a long way too.

Never. I partly work in it myself, being the lead mail clerk for a casino with fellow employees who have the balls to dare yell abuse at me and my two assistants. I’ve learned to yell right back over the years. My assistants, not so much. But I tell them to just hang up when callers get like that. Yes, we’re there to help you with any mail inquiry you might have, but we do not have to take your abuse.

No, and if I ever get too short or annoyed I apologize and assure them I'm not upset with them.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
I spent my whole working life in restaurants and retail. It's rarely the employee's fault. But I never go back.
Never. I might get frustrated by a situation but I have too much appreciation for just how difficult their job is.
Selah ·
No I dont understand people who act like the shopping experience is some super emotional high stress situation. But I've had plenty of customer service workers be rude to me and I wish 1000 karens for them.
No I do not, I used to work in a supermarket and know what dealing with those sorts of customers is like.
YoMomma ·
I don’t and i try to tell my husband not to either 😳
romell · 51-55, M
It's like adding salt to salt water.. meaningless...you just increase your BP doesn't make a difference to them ..rather i enjoy by asking them such questions like ...you work so hard how much do u get paid ,i would like to join you too..watch how they disconnect bnnnever get calls. Again
Miram · 31-35, F
No، but when I am too calm and peaceful lot of people seem to think they can act like diks with me. So I do be mean back and they get hurt.
I can be eloquent, sharp and ruthless. I prefer not having to.

Never. Two of the people I love most either are or were servers.
Teslin · M
Unfortunately you are the face, or most likely the voice representing the company. So you have to hear the problems and frustrations of customers.
Im generally not a yelling person. It's mean and shows a lack of control.

@Punxi I know, right? Even when they get my order wrong, I've got no reason to be anything but polite and respectful about it.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
I absolutely do not, and I've been known to yell at people who do.

No, if anything I suck up to them and hope they can actually help me solve my problem....
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@fun4us2b I especially do that with customer service people who handle my food. I think everyone can guess why.
faery · F
I don't yell at anyone. I always think people seem absolutely ridiculous yelling
Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
I’ve never had to as well as I have been in their shoes

Petty Karens are the worst
The only ones I get upset at are those who refuse to listen.
