I really, really hate that I have to go back to work.

Been on leave for five months because of a family emergency. I really don't want to go back. The thought of having to go back to working 50 hours a week to make a living is just depressing. And my coworkers have really disappointed me. I thought we were real friends. But no, they've made it pretty clear that we're just coworkers. And that hurts cause I don't have any friends.

This is the problem that happened after the quarantine lockdowns and why some businesses have such a problem getting employees that will stay.
@cherokeepatti they've tasted freedom!

@metaldog It’s not easy to juggle a family, a job, take kids to childcare and pick them up, keep up with school activities, etc. It can be exhausting. And when the children are sick you can’t leave them at daycare and you can’t send them to school. If there is no family to depend on and you aren’t making a small fortune with work or can’t work from home then yeah it’s a type of freedom to be able to stay home. Plus if other workers are missing a lot due to illness or family being sick etc. then the ones who show up have to help carry their load.

It can be both eye-opening and painful to think someone is your friend, only to find the opposite is true.

@Lilliesandlight As MrHonkHonk, he espoused a number of offensive alt-right viewpoints.

@CorvusBlackthorne oh dear. So toxic.

That's probably not strictly true - people have limits in what what they can do.

As tiring as it is, I like the work routine, helps keep my mind distracted from other problems...

Not worry , on sw someone is your friend .
@Max41 gee that should make her feel better 😆
Max41 · 26-30, M
@metaldog Yes it is nice if you are better too .

But no, they've made it pretty clear that we're just coworkers.
It's good! They gave you a good lesson. Now, you know how to thoroughly professional with people.😇

Friends at job is a joke now. Everywhere I have worked, I have been a lone wolf (by choice). I see nothing wrong in it. The ones who address themselves as 'friends' are ready to back-stab each other the moment they get the chance to do so.
Lilliesandlight · 41-45, F
@SoLeRiMix it seems like it unfortunately 😞

I hope it goes smoothly when you resume your job. 🤞🙏😊☺️ And I would look for people that enjoy doing similar things as you instead of just people that you share your work day with. It’s a double edged sword to be friends with your coworkers but maybe it’ll change in time. I hope for whatever is best for you.
I hate the fact almost all my friendships in life are work related. When you want to dissociate from work it's hard

I hope the family stuff is ok ☹️
Lilliesandlight · 41-45, F
@Nebula it's slowly getting better

Perhaps you might try an amusing prank to endear yourself to your coworkers, such as putting lysergic acid diethylamide in the water cooler?
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
I mean, technically, you don't have to go back.
Lilliesandlight · 41-45, F
@LordShadowfire I do if I don't want my family to be homeless
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@Lilliesandlight So what I'm hearing is you choose to go back because you don't like the alternative.
Lilliesandlight · 41-45, F
@LordShadowfire cause I've lived the alternative before.
