@Stereoguy seems like half the fires are now caused by homeless breaking into empty homes and starting fires in a metal trash can or something to stay warm
@Stereoguy they don’t own the buildings they break into so they have nothing invested. Likely they are druggies or alcoholics and don’t follow the rules to be sober to stay in a shelter so they are basically feral and just trying to survive, and probably have lost a lot of brain cells along the way. There was an old man who had a modest little home less than 2 miles from here and he lived by himself. He had to go into the hospital for a couple weeks and returned to his home to find it trashed and bedbugs crawling. It had been taken over by homeless men staying there. It was too damaged to stay in and his daughter had to come and get him and let him Live with her. There is a homeless shelter with a meal kitchen just a few blocks down the street. Not everyone who eats at the kitchen qualifies for the shelter.
@cherokeepatti yep. And Kim chi too. It all depends on the amount of available sugar, type of yeast, things like that. But.., I do love a good ginger beer and that pineapple one sounds fantastic. Hot summer day, pop one of those open...
@FurryFace A local sports reporter fell on ice in his driveway and had to be hospitalized with a head injury. Had a great aunt in the 70’s who fell on her icy porch while getting her newspaper and broke her hip, had to have a hip replacement surgery. The doctor told her she would probably never walk again. But she did and fell & broke the other hip, had surgery once again. She said she was better than she was before getting the surgeries.
Cows can freeze their udders off and small calves can freeze their tails off. I heard that on the news yesterday morning when they were talking about residents giving their pets and livestock shelter in this cold weather.
Yeah that. My joints swell up before every winter front, even if it’s already cold if another front is approaching they swell up, easy to injure myself when joints are swollen.
@Pinkstarburst How many chickens do you have? When I lived in the country & had chickens there was a little narrow side room next to the chicken pen area and I would put them in there at night & plug in a light, put their water & food in there.
@cherokeepatti Eleven. The have a three walled coop with a heat lamp but it doesn’t keep the water from freezing. I have a submergible heater but forgot to turn it on last night. Had to do it all this morning.
@SW-User same. Work was optional today because of it. And we're supposed to work from home. Not too much I can do from home if I wasn't prepared to work from home🤷♀️🎉📺📼🍿🛌🎮🕹️📻😂.
@RogueLoner But a hard cold snap cuts down on the bug population in the spring & summer, which I like. Mosquitoes, those little bastards, can sneak into basements & crawl spaces and survive, some of them anyway.
