If fuel prices go up any further I honestly feel we won't be driving Electric Cars we'll be riding horses.

@sunsporter1649 This is what I've been going about your photogragh is spot on.

Actually... The cost of a horse, including harness, saddle and stabling was greater as a % of the average income of the day than a car is now..
But that aside, the current cost is a direct response to the oil industries efforts to push development of alternatives down over the decades. And now the race is on the make up time. Battery powered vehicles will have a market niche in cities.. But Hydrogen will take over longer ranges in a decade or two and hygrogen pumps will be added to the fuel networks. The movement of Hydrogen internationally and globally will also be suppliment, then ultimately replace the movement of oil. No pollution and sustainable as long as the sun shines.. And this could have been here already. But for the oil companies.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I'm a big fan of Hydrogen I think your right it's a better prospect there's a company near me in nearby Monmouth that makes and leases out Hydrogen cars regrettably they retain ownership of them they are doing rather well but their still a small company, I understand they've just received a small grant from the Welsh Government so I'll watch their space.

@senghenydd The evolution of the car itself requires an evolution of the fuel manufacture and distribution. And also the evolution of the vehicles themselves will be leapfrogging previous models, so I can see why they want to retain ownership right now. GM in the US did a similar thing with an early electric car (I believe called the Volt, but that might be wrong) It was released to people for a limited time, to trial and some begged to keep theirs and buy them. But GM wouldnt budge. I can see the sense as with such total new tech, a lot of unseens might ruine the reputation down the track.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Necessary is the Mother of Invention now the pressure is on our world we will come up with the answer we have always delivered.

The amazing thing about electric cars are it take same fossil fuel if not more,to charge them. Where do they think that power comes from?
Applepiedom · 56-60, M
@senghenydd lol I remember when Algeria was the bad guys. I think I read u.s. was to work with Argentina
senghenydd · M
@Applepiedom It's going to be a mad scramble to get Gas.
History repeats itself.
Applepiedom · 56-60, M
@senghenydd especially if we don't learn from the past.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
only after we've siphoned every last drop of fuel from cars with biden/harris bumper stickers on them... 🤔
MarineBob · 56-60, M
How much is feed nowadays?
senghenydd · M
@MarineBob I don't know the price of feed but honestly believe it'll be available, whereas Petrol and Gas may be rationed.
tenente · 100+, M
@MarineBob can you imagine the huge piles of horse manure blocking the streets and suffocating everyone lol 😂
eyeno · M
People will be (stealing) siphoning gas again from our tanks.

trackboy · 22-25, M
@eyeno @eyeno there is a ball in a cage at the bottom of the fuel tube that blocks siphon hoses from getting through. even when you take the gas hose off its really difficult to thread the hose those few inches around the ball to drain the gas tank before taking the gas tank off in order to replace the fuel pump. 🍪
eyeno · M
@trackboy many I've heard dont even bother they'll just puncture the tank and let it drain out into a pan.
trackboy · 22-25, M
@eyeno they do hundreds of dollars damage to get a few dollars of gas?? what idiots!
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
Seventeen miles to work. More likely I'll be working from home a bit and retiring sooner. Thank goodness I have a Prius! Gas in the RAV4 was getting so old the oxygen sensor light triggered. Put in fresh gas and it corrected. Hadn't driven it in three months.
senghenydd · M
@Tastyfrzz I agree lorries usually deliver in bulk, lets hope things aren't as grime as I'm predicting.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@senghenydd we've survived the pandemic and Trump. We'll do ok.

I find it interesting how the oil companies always profit more when a Democrat is in the white house. When we go away from fossil fuels it's going to really suck for the Saudis.
senghenydd · M
@Tastyfrzz We are investing in wind companies but not fast enough (waiting to see what direction the wind blows I expect - excuse the pun) moving quietly investing in Solar- Wind and Hydro-Electric moving in the right direction but slowly, also providing grants for Hydrogen fuel, we are building twelve new Nuclear Reactors to generate Electricity.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@senghenydd not much solar in England is expect. Modern nukes should be better.
senghenydd · M
@Tastyfrzz @Tastyfrzz Yes your right today being 4th of June hardly any sun this morning, it did brighten up in the afternoon Britain won't be able to rely on solar that's for sure.

Meanwhile, NJ is trying to end work-at-home options that came into practice during COVID by changing tax laws to try and economically force people to travel to city centers -- increasing fuel costs, pollution, infrastructure wear, and congestion. Good call NJ. :(
msros · F
Seems to be the only way.
TrunkZ · 56-60, M
It is definitely a problem that the world has to grapple with until supply can catch up to demand. As to electric cars, shame that more wasn't done to promote renewable energy before a crisis developed.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
That would only drop the cost of 'horse poo' and the people who sell it would starve.
MrAboo · 36-40, M
Honestly that'd be my dream come true.
senghenydd · M
@MrAboo Well I haven't ridden a horse since I was twelve years old my Great Aunt had a field of eight acres three horses, it was great fun she had a flat bed cart and a buggie Oh happy days looking back Yes I could still ride I could do that.
cycleman · 61-69, M
Ride bicycles and get healthy!
senghenydd · M
@cycleman I've ridden many miles around South Wales the problem where I live is mountains it's not a real option which is a pity, my Ancestors came from Holland a flat country with no mountains I've always been angry about it my family have lived in Wales since Cromwell's days.

pretty wild how the electric car was 1st to market in amreica, but the combustion engine became the mainstream mode of transport
