I have owned Chevys for years and have had outstanding experience. My Silverado is 20 years old and runs great. My wife loves her Traverse, although her Tahoe was her favorite car.
Sleepysheep · 26-30, M
@exexec See I’ve heard good things about the older Chevys and higher end Chevys like corvettes.
For the economy class like Chevy cruise and equinox, I always hear complaints.

exexec · 70-79, C
@Sleepysheep I haven't owned any of them.
Jonjdw · 51-55, M
My Chevy venture transmission went put one in. Then the head gasket but they’re noted for that. Had a cavalier that was great. Have an impala right now which is great. Can’t remember other Chevys.
Sleepysheep · 26-30, M
@Jonjdw so the Chevy vans are just known to be kind of junk?
I’m not mechanically inclined but I know I have to replace my starter, alternator, battery, signal and headlight switch.
One thing in this car goes wrong it’s like a chain reaction of things that follow suit and start malfunctioning.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout I MAZDA chose the worst car on market! 🤣😂

Sleepysheep · 26-30, M
@sunsporter1649 it’s rare to see a car that old runs as good as the day it was built! 🤣😂
Zaphod42 · 51-55, M
I do t trust any newer domestic, and for older ones I’m a Chevy guy except for the 1969 Mach 1
Sleepysheep · 26-30, M
@Zaphod42 See the older Chevys and high end ones like corvettes i hear good things.
But from experience the economy/domestic Chevys are not something Ive grown to trust or rely on!
To be fair I’m not knowledgeable on cars and this is my first one and it’s being a royal pain so far. 🙁

@Sleepysheep My experience with older domestics are that Chevy breaks down a little more often, but is inexpensive and easy to fix. Fords don’t break down as often, but when they do it’s serious and never cheap. I’ve never owned and older dodge so I couldn’t say there.
Ozuye502 · 36-40, M
My wife had one a few years ago it was a fun little car... suv ran a red light but she walked away
Sleepysheep · 26-30, M
@Ozuye502 I’m happy to hear your wife is okay, I have a equinox and it’s problem central.
bookerdana · M
In my experience Good engines ,bodies not so much
Sleepysheep · 26-30, M
@bookerdana The engine is quick for sure, one thing I will give my car (engine problems aside) the engine is MEAN but it’s like they said “FUCK IT” to the rest of the car! 🤣

A car is a car doesn’t matter
Sleepysheep · 26-30, M
@SW-User that’s what I said my dude, than I payed $6.000+ for a car that fell apart and I can’t drive.🤣
Looks like I’m back to walking! 🤣😂

My dad was a Chevy man. He didn't like Fords
Sleepysheep · 26-30, M
@DemureDeb see he probably had some older Chevys when they were reliable and nice looking cars, forward to 2000’s Chevy started slacking in my opinion.
TrashCat · M
They feel cheap, like they're about to fall apart. Lots of squeaks and rattles
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@TrashCat I've noticed that as well. I called our old van the squeakmobile.

Thats one thing Ford's have going for them. They feel tight. That's helpful. When all the nuts&bolts come out, they stay in one place 😂

Haven't had one specifically. I had a Buick LeSabre once though (Buicks come from the same manufacturer as Chevy, which is GM).

Sleepysheep · 26-30, M
@pdockal So… what? Don’t leave me hanging here, do you experience any issues and do you own an equinox?
I’m genuinely curious because I don’t much about cars and wonder if there is anything I should look out for?

They never did give me any problems.

I drive a 2005 Trailblazer. I've read they're prone to transmission failure at about 150,000 miles.
you probably had an older on or a non economy Chevy
I do. It is my work vehicle.I drive a 2005 Trailblazer. I've read they're prone to transmission failure at about 150,000 miles.
Sleepysheep · 26-30, M
@Atlotto You may just be lucky in that case, mine is an equinox and I wouldn’t recommend them to anybody.
Sleepysheep · 26-30, M
@Atlotto Trailblazers weren’t a bad vehicle, I ever a lot of people wishing they had one in my area, but than again most of them experience problems because they just took them out for rips and never to the mechanics!🤣
Zonuss · 46-50, M
Malibu, Silverado, Impala. All solid vehicles.
Be aware of your car's weak.spots and do regular maintenance. Good luck.

They run a long time if you do basic maintenance.
Sleepysheep · 26-30, M
@LordShadowfire I baby mine, in fairness I’m not mechanically inclined and bought a used car so thats my fault.
Still I’d like to think other brands of cars don’t have as many issues as my car does.
With my car when one thing goes it messes something else up and I’m down this expensive rabbit hole of try to fix and maintain my car.
I’m Canadian so we have VERY STRICT stupid laws that required us are cars to past safety test before we are allowed to get them on the road.

@Sleepysheep I'm not exactly mechanically inclined, either. Fortunately, there are plenty of options to get that stuff taken care of.
Today, I learned my little car has eight sparkplugs. Never knew that before.

Still you know more than I about cars sir, I know about small engines just not cars or their engines.
